An adaptation of a Victor Hugo play. The original piece was banned in the 19th century after one performance. Harrison's version is set in late-Victorian times of melodrama, London fogs, a lecherous Prince of Wales, and Jack the Ripper.

Le Roi s'amuse/The Prince's Play,
By A Customer
This review is from: Le Roi S'Amuse = the Prince's Play (Faber and Faber Plays) (Paperback)
The inclusion of Victor Hugo's name and title on the cover is misleading, implying a parallel French/English text. This is an adaptation in verse which moves the setting to London. It's well realized, but if you are looking for the original play, you will be disappointed.
