5.0 out of 5 stars Make your TTL flash work for you
The flexibility this cable gives you is well worth the money. Especially when shooting in the dark. The off-flash AF-Illuminator lets you point the flash anywhere while still being able to paint your subject for autofocus.
The build-quality is outstanding - the cable is heavy and doesn't get "over-stretched" easily.

1.0 out of 5 stars Made of shoddy material
Since I have so much invested in Nikon equipment (D300, D90, D80, SB-900, 85mm portrait lens, 28-80 zoom lens, 70-300 zoom lens, 15-55 zoom lens, etc.), this was the natural choice. The "works" of the item are in a small box (less than 1 inch cube) which is composed of two parts that are brought together with a seam. The SB-900 is a heavy unit, and within a short time...

5.0 out of 5 stars Needed off camera flash cord, February 25, 2008

The Nikon SC-29 flash cord, although pricey, is a necessary addition to off camera flash attachments. Having looked at other cheaply made cords, with their flimsy attachments, I was convinced that the extra money would be better spent on the stronger construction of the SC-29. In addition, since I am using a non Nikon speedlight, I wanted a cord which would allow usage of my Sigma flash in both ttl and non ttl applications. The SC-29 has a nifty little switch which allows this to happen. On my Nikon D80 it has performed outstandingly with my non dedicated flash.

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh my, what fun, February 7, 2007
This review is from: SC-29 Ttl Coiled Remote Cord (Electronics)
I dont use this product in it's intended use in the studio. I wanted this cord to take out to the streets to get some weird flash angles similar to those of Bruce Gilden and my own original ideas concerning a whole matter of subjects. This works flawlessly with my SB-800 and D200. Giving a wide range of flexibility.

No matter what use you find for it, it'll work just fine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great, January 31, 2009

Is as good as i expected. Solid build quality, it works fine. There were a few things i did not know about this before i bought it, maybe other people could use this info as well

1)Gives you about arms reach distance between camera and flash, can probably be uncoiled with heat, but dont expect to put it more than 3 feet before it starts pulling on the stands. Perfect if you want to just hold it in your hand and get different light effects.

2) Has a switch on the front that either allows the AF illuminator in the flash or the termial on the hot shoe of the camera. One or the other. Cant use both. I doubt anyone would need both though.

3) No PC connection. I read that the SC-28 has one though

4) it does have the shoe locks.

5) Worth every penny.

I was looking for a way to connect my SB600 Flash to my Nikon to avoid redeye and harsh light. This little attachment worked great. I set my flash on a collapsible strobe frame for my Nikon and shot away. I am not a professional, all I know is what works. This works for me.

4.0 out of 5 stars Be sure to get the Anti-Twist plate!, December 21, 2007

This coil is great for mounting the SB-800 on top of your Nikon with the 350 flip bracket from Tiffen. I bought both, and found that with my battery pack on the Nikon D200 it would not go full center. In other words, I could not position the SB-800 center to the camera with the Stroboframe Quick Flip 350 Flash Bracket. So I had to do two things:

1) Unscrew the attachment and move it to the far right so that the flash unit was not hitting the infrared component. (Very easy to fix - I'm a novice, and if I can do it, you can, too.)

2) I absolutely needed the anti twist-plate. It's essential. If you don't get it, you may as well chuck the whole 350 flash bracket out altogether. It is needed so that the SB-800 doesn't spin around.

Get both and you'll be happy. 4/5 stars because I can't center the flash, but really, it's only a matter of an inch or an inch and a half, and I don't think it's going to ruin my photographing experiences beyond repair. Happy shooting!

Note: I love this thing.

This is a great way to get your flash off of your camera (if you don't have a CLS-enabled Nikon to wirelessly trigger the flash).

I'm a big fan of the IR focus-assist feature that is only available in this model, not the SC-28. It allows me to use auto focus quickly in low-light situations and still get directional, soft light with my SB-600.

Very nice!

5.0 out of 5 stars Little pricey, but a Must Have, November 3, 2009

What can I say, its a little expensive, but you need one of these. NOW! Get your flash OFF of your camera and start playing around with different lighting angles. You won't regret it I promise. Some people complained that the tension on the chord is too stiff and its hard to pull out too far, but its really not a big deal. Remember the day when we had chords on our phones? Yeah...same thing. As long as you are hand holding the flash, its pretty darn easy to stretch it as far as your arm will reach. The only hinderance is if you are mounting it to another tripod and really trying to put some distance between the camera and the flash. But at that point you should just be going wireless anyway. So unless you have $$$$$$ to shell out for the SB-800 or want to spend a couple hundred dollars more to go wireless with the SB-600 get this cable.

this product helps a lot. If you have a nikon flash and use the wireles TTL, it sucks a lot of energy from the bateries. with this cable it doesnt happens.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Handy, May 18, 2009
This review is from: SC-29 Ttl Coiled Remote Cord (Electronics)
I use a D300 and SB-800. This cable allows me to use off camera flash easier and quicker than setting up commander mode on the built-in flash. The cable is lengthy, but coiled tight so it isn't in the way.

Since I rarely use my flash on camera - this cable is almost a necessity for me - and one I should have bought much sooner.
