Luckily, I recognized the Trademarked atomic symbol that goes along with FUTURE Floor Polish, and called the customer service number on the label to clear up my confusion.
A very pleasant woman on the other end of the line reassured me that this was indeed the same exact product as FUTURE Floor Polish, and there had merely been a name change in April 2008.
So, for those who are particular about getting the exact product (in my case it is for putting a high gloss glaze on my polymer clay projects), rest assured that the product labeled "Pledge with FUTURE Shine" is indeed what you are seeking.
It does what it is said to do, so a must for every modeler out there.
Thank you Amazon for this oportunity.
Called SC Johnson today. "pledge floor care multi-surface finish with future shine" is no longer produced under this name. They changed the name to "pledge floor care multi-surface finish" in December of 2012 ("a clear bottle, with clear solution, with a boot on the label" ~ Wendy from SC Johnson said).
They guaranteed me it is the same product formula. There may be bottles of "pledge floor care multi-surface finish with Future Shine" still in retail stores but they were produced before December of 2012.
TL;DR - "pledge floor care multi-surface finish" and "pledge floor care multi-surface finish with Future Shine" are the same exact formula. SC Johnson confirmed and changed the name back in December of 2012.
Anyway, I use this as a clear coat and as a barrier while painting, on model trucks.
It does an excellent job of this... is airbrushable, brushable with a brush, dippable, makes a good adhesive for photoetch, and clear parts, gives a good shine, and enhances clear parts. Excellent stuff...
UPDATE: Feb 15 2012 I used Pledge Future Acrylic Floor Finish on my old, always stained, dingy and impossible to keep clean laminate counter tops, and I am really pleased with the results!! These stained proned counter tops now have a gleaming protective surface which seemingly wipes up cleanly with a quick swipe. After a complete scrub and rinses, I applied 2 coats of Future, allowing 8-10 hours between application. It's only been a few days now, I will update how it's holding up. I didn't figure I had much to loose: ammonia will take it off it case it didn't work, and I always use counter top protection under food, so there's no direct contact with food-but I never did see how Future could be any worse than any of the other products I have tried to obtain some protection. Will update later, and I am now seeing Pledge FutureShine for Vinyl Floor Finish in my local Walmart for $6.37
