3.0 out of 5 stars Good vac for the price!
Great vacuum for the price! Great suction and pretty sturdy. It is definitely heavier than I expected - much heavier than my previous Oreck handheld, but manageable. All parts are good but not extraordinary, except that if you plan to use it to vac bare floors you will be disappointed with the floor/carpet attachment. I just kept the one I used with my Oreck, so keep...

4.0 out of 5 stars Great little vacuum!, April 28, 2007
This vacuum was one of the first purchases we made when we started our janitorial company three years ago. It has been money well spent! I only gave it 4 stars because there are 2 things that I would have changed on the design and they are really more annoyances than defects. The first one is I would add an automatic winding reel for the cord. It's a real pain to have to wind it up after each use to transport. The other thing I'd change is on the floor tool. We use it a lot on bare floors. Another model we have has 2 small wheels on the bottom of the floor tool that helps it ride more smoothly on the surface.

For a small vacuum it has a lot of suction and the telescoping wand is a great idea! Just push or pull on the handle while holding the locking mechanism and voila!

Changing the bags and filter is a snap! The vacuum only weighs 10 lbs. so it's easy to carry and has a handy shoulder strap. It could be a little quieter but it's not any worse than the vacuum I use in my home.

I recommend the commercial (red) version over the residential (yellow). For $40 more you get a larger motor and better hose and tools. The residential model seems to heat up a lot more than the commercial model probably due to the smaller motor. But you pay for that in weight, 10 lbs versus 8 lbs. The residential model's hose is a joke! It is so lightweight that it bends and crimps all the time. Also the residential model does not come with a shoulder strap.

We've used this vacuum on every job from residential cleaning to commercial cleaning to construction clean-up. It has never failed to deliver! I recommend it!

4.0 out of 5 stars space-saving hard worker, May 15, 2008
By
This review is from: EUK SC3683A, Electrolux Sanitaire Commercial Canister Vacuum
We bought this to replace a Eureka Mitey-Mite that died after 25 hard-working years. It has the HEPA filtration of my too-heavy Eureka Wind-Tunnel upright and the Power Paw attachment for extra suction that is as good or better than our 2 yr old Rainbow for removing pet hairs from the carpet, and with less effort on our part. The Power Paw, offering additional "oomph!" works on other vacuums, too, slipping onto the end of the hose or extensions.

The hose doesn't flatten if stepped upon, as did the Wind-Tunnel's, and the handy "on-board" most commonly used accessories--the corner/blinds wand and a superbly handy 2-headed attachment of the brush end and small flat "foot" are more easy to grab and reattach to the body of the machine than any vacuum I've ever used (over 50 yrs experience).

The main downside to this vacuum for me is that I can't find the MM bags in area stores and must keep track of usage to reorder them online before I run out of spares. However, they come in large volume sets, and each bag holds quite a lot of unmentionables. I used a Mitey-Mite C bag each time I vacuumed the house; I can do the same house at least twice on one MM bag. If I could find bags more easily, this review would go up another half-star. The front-loading bag changes easily without the lid fighting every effort to close it.

If you thought a bagless vacuum was the way to go, think again! SOMEONE has to empty and clean that cupful of "whatevers," eventually. Even if your vacuum has a HEPA filter, guess where all the little nasties it filtered from your air have landed, waiting for you to put them back into the air on their way to the garbage bin. This canister's bag with self-closing flap can eliminate the dust and the loose mess of a cup. One doesn't have to look at the nasty, or share it with the world again; just remove the bag from the canister & dump it neatly into the trash.

With the HEPA filter, it appears we have fewer dust motes dancing in the sun beams, as well. This filter is easily accessible at the rear of the canister and cleans easily with an occasional toss in the washer or rinse-off at the sink. It is also replaceable from stock available most hardware stores (or online). If into aromatherapy, sprinkle a drop of your preferred scent on this filter just before using the vacuum.

I enjoy having extra space in the utility closet--this canister fits on a small shelf and the hose & extension with floor "foot" take up very little space, compared to the Rainbow and all its accessories or the Wind-Tunnel demanding most of the floor space and smacking our faces whenever we peered into the closet for something else.

Unlike the Hoover it deposed, this canister doesn't chew belts faster than teens chew gum.

The canister is lightweight and can be carried or will follow one obediently, even over raised door stops, without disconnecting at the hose base. It works well with wood, cement, tile, linoleum floors and carpet (as well as on window trims and upholstery). The hose air adjustment slide functions more smoothly than anything else I've used, making it easier to avoid sucking off the fringe on the area carpet.

The on/off switch is easily accessed by hand (or foot) and the long cord allows one to clean most rooms (or several adjoining rooms) without moving to a new power outlet. I miss the retractable cord of my 1960's Kenmore canister and the slide-away grip to quick-release the coiled cord that my Mitey-Mite had (the other half star this model did not receive to have 5 in total), but we find the cord coils tidily under the canister with a few moment's effort.

After a year's use, we're still very pleased with it and hope it comes out in a completely robotized version that also does windows & makes dinner on weeknights.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Vacuum REALLY sucks!!, April 2, 2008

WOW!
Don't keep anything you don't want to lose close to this vacuum! LOL!!
It has the MOST POWERFUL suction I have ever seen in a vacuum of
this size.
It really does have tons of power and just "cleans up", as they say.
My spouse appreciates how light weight it is and that fact that it will
"tag along" rolling on the wheels.
The hose is sturdy and does not kink when being used.
The cord is 20 feet long and wraps underneath the vacuum.
The bag is super easy to remove and to replace.
It is louder than my upright vacuum but not unbearable by any means.
I have used it to clean the ceiling fan, vacuum around the dryer, and vacuum out both cars, and that was just today!!
It is refreshing to find a vacuum that really works, as advertised, and you can rely on to "get the job done".
I LOVE MINE!

It is very loud so be prepared!

Ultimately really good for the price!

PS: It is HEPA ready but it does not bring the HEPA filter. You have to order it separately for $25!

5.0 out of 5 stars A mighty little machine., July 2, 2008

This review is from: EUK SC3683A, Electrolux Sanitaire Commercial Canister Vacuum
I bought this vacuum from the Shoplet company on Amazon. I am amazed at how well it works for something so small. First of all, the item practically arrived overnight and I did not pay to expedite shipping. It was a cinch to put together and it works so well.

It really gets my hardwood and tile floors so clean. It also works well on lite rugs, we have dhurries. I am not sure how well it would work on deep pile carpets. I also have used its attachments to clean my furniture. That was great too. I especially like the fact that it is a bagged vacuum as I thought cleaning out the dust cup from my previous one was disgusting. And last but not least, it fits under most of my furniture, unlike the previous one which was a clunky upright.

It is easy to use and incredibly light, the hose does not tangle and it follows along behind me like a little red dog.

I would suggest buying several packages of bags when you buy the vacuum.

A great machine especially for the money.

Well, thought I would check back in, it is now May 2009, almost a year of ownership. And I still love this product. I still find it really loud so now I wear my IPOD when I vac. But aside from that it is really nice. It picks up and it is not a pain to lug around. I don't expect it to live forever especially since I seem to be really hard on vac's but for sure I would another one of these.

Several years later I want to say I still have a love affair with this little vacuum cleaner. I gave it to my daughter and just today borrowed it back. I am not returning it. In the meantime my husband bought a very expensive Dyson Animal for so much money. It is much better on rugs but except for that this vac is the best for floors, tile, furniture, bathrooms, kitchens, etc. I truly love this little machine and my day is better for having it back. I would definitely buy it again.

This is a WONDERFUL vacuum. I love this little thing. I would give it 10 stars, it is that good. My last two vacuums have been uprights and they were terrible! All I wanted was a vacuum that would suck. Is that too much to ask of a vacuum?

My husband searched the Webb high and low and when he found this one he thought we should buy one. I thought he just liked the price but turns out he was correct on all levels. This vacuum is easy to use, looks great, is lightweight, and really sucks!
It works well on hardwood floors, lino, and carpet. I like it so well that I am thinking of buying another one for downstairs.
In reading the reviews others had written they thought it was too loud-they should of had my last two vacuums and they did not like winding the cord. I agree that winding the cord is a bit of a bummer but the last vacuum I had that had an auto wind on it only wound the cord for the first 6 months then it was a hit and miss affair and sometimes the cord wound so fast that it had a bit of whiplash effect and your bare toes and feet had to do a fast shuffle. So winding the cord is not a big deal. I will wind because this vacuum SUCKS big time!
I have now had this vacuum for over a year and I bought another one to use downstairs as well. I still love this vacuum, it works well, sucks great, works on all types of floors.
I do not find it too loud and the cord winding is not a big deal. This is still the best cheapest vacuum I have ever owned.
I have had this vacuum for two years now and it is still the best vacuum I have ever owned. I use it about 4 times a week and should use it seven times a week. We have our 16 month old grandson living with us and it is nearly impossible to keep the floors clean but this little guy tries. It will suck up fluff, baby wipes, cheese on the floor and it is great for retrieving balls and other objects that are accidentally? thrown behind the freezer, couch, bed, desk etc.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little work horse!, November 13, 2007
We started our cleaning business 4 years ago and being short on start-up money choosing good sturdy vacuums was very important. We purchased our first 3683A along with a Sanitaire upright. Soon we were using only the canister. It is light and maneuverable. It is great for stairs and the suction is really good. I love the ease of changing the bags. Just open and drop it in! We really abused our first canister. We used it for a year exclusively. Then we used it in 2 post construction cleanings - one was an apartment complex of 81 units and the second was a 24 unit condo complex. I don't recommend using it for post construction because it is very hard on them but I'm happy to say that this little machine has lasted 4 years even with the construction dust!

The only problems we have had is; 1)the hose is flimsy and will kink if twisted (We replaced it with a heavier hose)and, 2) the wheel came off after 3 years but was simple to replace.

I LOVE the telescoping wand! I'm not crazy about the floor tool but found you can purchase replacements that work better for under $10. Also, the wand size will accommodate most other vacuum attachments. The one down side is that they don't have a motorized beater attachment.

I would highly recommend this vacuum for anyone in commercial cleaning! I think it would last for many years in residential use. We like them so well we now own 4 of them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Good Canister Vacuum, July 17, 2007
By
R. A. Raia (Houston, Texas) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I have had this vacuum for a few weeks and it is one of the best. My only complaint is the noise. The motor is very loud, but most vacuums are. On the good side: it is relatively light, the extension wand is very good, and the suction is powerful. Ratio of price to quality is excellent. I am unsure why the extra hepa filter is so expensive (at around $20-25), but
at least there is one available, though I have to say that the exhaust is nowhere near my old vacuum, and I am not sure the hepa filter is needed when using the allergy efficient bags. Overall, a super good buy.

looked at many vacuums. read on-line reviews and consumers reports. this vacuum is a great value for the money. noisy but has excellent suction.
only disadvantage is that the bags and hepa filter are only available on line.
