Easy to install and working great.

This was a perfect replacement, I didn't have to wire anything, just unplug the old detector (same plug design) and plug into the new one.

Was required to put these in (Smoke detectors AND CO alarm hard wired) and they worked great.

Perfect replacement for the 2 BRK units I had that were at end of life.. The new ones were 1st alert brand/BRK and hooked up perfect without changing the cover plate. Plugt in and twist in the unit and I was done.
The only thing that you need to be aware of is in the normal life cycle you need to vacume the unit once a year or on backup battery change. I have no issues with false alams.

I have a dual system in my home; 120V smoke on three floors and the Alarm Co's devices as well. We also had three CO detectors, one on each floor.
I replaced the 120V system with these new CO/Smoke alarms. It is an easy change as they are a direct bolt on to the utility box where the power comes in.
We now have CO/Smoke with a battery backup on each floor.
The CO is REALLY important; it can kill you and your family with no warning. You just die in your sleep.
Reason enough and these are nice units. They have a dim green light within so you can see they are "up" all the time.
Get them it is a no briainer!

Fast service and it worked right out of the box. Fit inside the older enclosure which saved time installing it. I would recommend this to anyone looking for this brand and model.

I have had two of these alarms sound false CO signals. After having the fire department come to the house both times and report no problems, I cannot recommend these alarms. The units were still within the warranty range. The fire captain even said this particular model was bad about false alarms.

These were purchased as replacements for the hard wired, interconnected First Alert smoke detectors installed by the builder of our home in 1998. We were preparing for sale, and the existing detectors were not only way past expiration (yeah, I know :-\), but zoning laws had changed and sleeping areas had to be protected with smoke/carbon monoxide alarms. This 4 pack was over 30% cheaper than the best price I could find anywhere in my area.

Installation couldn't have been easier. These were almost identical in every respect, but I did have to change the base plates. A simple matter of two screws - no more complicated than changing a trim plate on a switch or outlet. The wiring harness and plug was the same. I just plugged them in, pulled the battery guard tape, and mounted them. After they were all installed I pushed the test button on one, and listened to them go off in sequence on all three levels of the the house. Easy peasy.

In all the years the original First Alert alarms were in the house, and for the two and a half months we lived with the replacements the only time we ever heard them chirp was when we pushed the test buttons or changed the batteries. Those reviewers who report false alarms or random chirping on good batteries should probably have their wiring checked, and/or furnaces inspected.

Ok so it's been about 6 months and the warranty company is starting to get concerned. A few weeks after receiving my 4 that i bought, one gave me the beep of death. It’s not the alarm it’s a self-test fail. I called the number on the back and within a few days i received my replacement, and a shipping label to send the old one back. then the next week a separate one failed, and was replaced. Then a third, then the first replacement, then the second replacement. so all in all of the first 4 i bought, 1 has not needed replacement. I also purchased the photoelectric version SC7010B. I have not had a problem with this system. Also the alarm is a slightly lower pitch which doesn't hurt the ears as much.

I have had no false alarms with any of my systems. I purchased these to replace my 2007 versions which gave out a false CO2 alarm.

I can't complain too much because the warranty has worked, it's just the fact that these have no reliability factor to them. When they work they are great, it the fact that you have to keep going through the hassle to get the ones that work.

My house has a gas fireplace on the main floor and didn't have a carbon monoxide detector. I bought this product to replace the existing smoke detector. This was a perfect replacement, I didn't have to wire anything, just unplug the old detector (same plug design) and plug into the new one. Now it's tied into my existing smoke detector system so all alarms go off if this one alarms. Took a grand total of 10 minutes only because I had to lug my ladder inside. The peace of mind is absolutely worth it. It also came pre-loaded with a 9V battery for backup.

I saw some reviews saying it doesn't have a silence feature, but the "test" button is also a silence button. Not only is it labeled as such, but I tested it and it most definitely silences the alarm.

Probably a great device, but it cost me $50 for the Fire Inspector to tell me it was not acceptable for use in Massachusetts, which requires a voice announcement for Combination Smoke/CO detectors. I also found that Massachusetts also requires photoelectric rather than ionization smoke detectors in most situations - so this flunks both tests.

I don't have a recommendation of how to solve this problem except for amazon to add a state-specific check for these devices. Meanwhile, make sure that this is in compliance with your local fire code before you order.
