I make a LOT of madeleines. I bought one of these in 2011 and wrote my review then and indicated these were the reasons why I like this particular mold:

1. They are made in France and not in China
2. The shell shape is deep so the cakes come out pretty. I've had tins before where the shell grooves were not deep or pronounced at all and the cakes did not look like shells.
3. The shells are a little smaller than other madeleine molds I've seen. They are not so small to be considered "mini" but they are not as wide as my other madeleine molds and I think this makes the cakes more attractive. A smaller cake also means fewer calories per serving.
4. They are very easy to clean, but make sure you dry them right away b/c they are made of tin and rust stains will form if you leave them wet or let air dry.
5. I will probably purchase another tin b/c I really like this size and have not seen one like this before.

Three years later today (Oct 31, 2014), I have decided these are the BEST madeleine molds I have ever used. I have purchased many different kinds over the years, and even the ones that are from upscale stores like Williams Sonoma do not match up to these. I have since purchased three others since 2011 (so that I can bake 4 trays at once rather than washing after each batch). Even though the price has increased from 16.95 to 21.95 and no more free shipping, I just purchased one more today b/c I think they are still worth the money for the quality, and I am afraid these will go out of stock one day. I will have a total of 5 now. Here are additional reasons why I love these:

1. They make the most beautifully shaped cakes.
2.

These madeleine tins ar ethe best ones I have ever used. The size is perfect, not too big, and they last forever. I have some of these from 1978 and they are still in good working shape. The only downside to using these is that there is no good place to grab the madeleine tin from the oven without the potholder hitting the madeleine nearest the end. I am able to adjust to compensate but would love the manufacturere to increase the end length to make it easier. I have been making madeleines for a very long time with this and other madeleine tins and none of the other tins are any better for this particular feature, so I wouldn't say this is a fault of this one. I think the real problem is the lack of flexibility in potholders!

Great. Just butter before using, and don't leave them soaking in the sink. Wash and dry right away, No problems.
