It's accurate, it doesn't stink as quickly as other litters when exposed to urine. We use it to monitor a chronic UTI ecoli infection which has been impossible to eridicate even using the strongest antibiotic available (natural more gentle systemic products do not work for this infection). But hope reigns eternal and every few months we give our 19 year old kitty a drug-holiday, switch from our regular clumping litter to Scientific Litter to monitor infection (it goes under another name Perfect Litter (?) when purchased directly from it's primary vendor). It works using color which evolves into specific clear-pink-red to dark red clumps depending upon severity of infection when/ if present.
It's never been wrong & saves us $100's in unnecessary trips to vet for more tests, more procedures, more med changes, etc. which is hard on kitty and financially draining on us. I highly recommend this product as a monitoring product: HOWEVER, if your cat seems worse or if you see blood, it is urgent to get to a vet professional even if litter doesn't change color-- kitty could have something else systemically which needs treatment. SciCatLitter works for us and makes her life as well as our other 2 cats & 1 dog a bit more pleasant bc we know what we are dealing with and what we need to do (or not do) next. I have used this product for 2 years, have tried other uti monitoring products and return to Scientific Cat Litter because it's effecive & does what it's supposed to do.
I highly recommend this product.

I bought this litter on a whim and found it to be a superior litter. It's very lightweight as it claims, which I love since I have to lug cat litter up three flights of stairs to my apartment. It also clumps well and my cats seemed to love it. It tracks less than most litters, and controls odor pretty well, but was slightly dusty. Overall this is a fine litter and is definitely the litter to buy if you suspect your cat has urinary problems.
