After years of aggravating and dumb phones, finally a phone with a shared phonebook (albeit limited to 50 entries), a better interface, choice of tunes, and an interesting set of add-ons (wish the camera was available when my kids were small).
Sound quality is excellent, everybody in my family thinks is clearer with our VOIP setup.

While I like the Motorola Cordless Phone System alot, there are a few issues that kept it from being a 5 out of 5.
Pros: It's fairly (see cons for fairly) easy to set up and has some nice features like being able to control the answering system from any handset. It also allows you to name the handset so you know where to put it if you have a bunch in the house. It's very confortable even for extended use and lightweight so you won't tend to notice if you are carrying it around outside or such. The color screen is a bit gimmicky I think, but I have not dropped the $60 for the camera expansion either, so that might be a cool feature for those that find a use for it. But the color is nicer around the house than the "black and white" version. Cons: While easy to set up, there are some downfalls here too. Mostly, these are what prevented it from a perfect 5 in my book. The base unit and each handset has a clock and date on it. Nice feature, but you have to set each up individually. This is annoying for anyone with even slight OCD. You would think that if the units can communicate with eachother to provide the phonebook entries, they could communicate the time and date so you didn't have to set each one. You know, set the base unit and they all update per the base. Annoying though not a showstopper. Another item is one of the setup options for the handset. There is an option for if you want it lighted while it is on its charger and when/if you want it to turn off. (This would be controlled by the "day/night" setting inherent to the Motorola systems.) But it seems the programmers screwed this up. When you pull up that menu item, the only options for "changing" these settings are: "done" or "exit" so it seems you really can't change it after all. I've trie many times, and it seems this is just a mistake and a useless (so far) menu item. Lastly, and this applies to the Motorola System as a whole, it uses a 3rd party application and service to provide ring tones and wallpapers so one would have to pay more to customize their units that way. It's not a whole lot but not worth it in my book. All in all I am glad I chose the Motorola system and this handset is a nice addition to it.

I like the features this phone system has with blue tooth cability to place and receive calls from you cell. Also the ability to get notifications if someone calls and leaves a message on the phone and then the phone with call you anywhere you have programmed to review you answer machine. Now the downfall, the blue tooth feature is great but drops you in the middle of a call with no reason. Also the battery life is a joke, if you get the phone with the non-color display the battery last maybe 40 minutes talk, and thats after lifting it off the charging stand. The Color display, well you might as well limit you call to half that. And I even bought differnt rechargable batteries (Energizers) with the listed talk times. I thought when buying Motorola I was buying quality. The Cell phones I don't have problems.

We bought this phone to view the coordinating camera with, picture, call quality, ease of use is FANTASTIC ! ! !
Would highly recommend phone for it's innovation and features. The ability to view from the coordinating camera has been fantastic and we use this often as our baby/child monitor. BIG DRAWBACK the battery life is absolutely AWEFUL ! ! ! We try to leave the phones on the charger and can rarely hold more than a couple minute conversation on the phone before the battery dies, so far I have yet to find a better battery to replace then one that came with it. Have had these phones for >1yr.

Good value for the price. But it is difficult to read for me, a senior citizen. I would have liked the screen to be larger like my cell phone. Otherwise, the ringtone I use, "Bach" is nice and entertaining and fits into the background sound. Not jarring like the standard ringtone.
Voice quality is ok. I like the blue charging light. You can set the ringtone to off for "night", and then you can modify what hours "night" is. I like that feature.

We needed a new phone as our cordless died after 8 years. We were also having a baby soon. Well let me tell you this is the phone for that situation! You can use any handset in the system as a baby monitor by getting the optional wireless camera. With color screen handsets in this system (like this one that I am reviewing), you get audio and video, real time. With the monochrome handsets (SD7501?) you get the audio only. These phones dont have superb sound quality but that may be because of the dense population right where I live. The quality is acceptable though and the other features more than make up for that.

SD7502 Color Expansion Handset,

I purchased this expansion handset to us as an extra phone with the SD4580. Wrong. I had to purchase the SD4502 as an extra phone. Just because it's an SD doesn't mean they will work together. The SD7502 is a color handset and the SD4502 is not. We like the phones alot and they work great.
