5.0 out of 5 stars It works perfectly with my Eye-fi card and Canon EOS XTi
When I received the adapter and inserted my eye-fi card in it, at first my camera did not recognize it but all I had to do is format it with my camera and then it worked perfectly. An advice though: install the eye-fi card and card reader on your computer first, so it is set for wireless, then insert the card in your camera and format it. Then everything will work...

3.0 out of 5 stars Slower than hoped for.
I wanted to used this adapter with Canon 7D. Ultimately I would like to use it with Eye-Fi (which I don't have yet). But when I tested the adapter on PC using a Extreme III SD card, the writing speed is only about 3.9 mb/s. For recording 1080p video with 7D, one would need writing speed almost twice as fast. So it probably should work for taking still photos (albeit...

Then everything will work perfectly. Should you format it first, you will then need to go to the eye-fi.com website to redownload the card manager software that was on the card before your formated it. The adapter itself is perfect, nothing wrong with it.

Great product for a very affordable price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works well, but it's thick, September 18, 2009

If you want to purchase one of these, make sure that your digital camera can fit a slightly wider CF card. I have a Canon Rebel XT and this CF adapter worked very well with a variety of SD cards (16 GB, 8 GB, and 4 GB). On the other hand, this adapter does not fit in cameras like the Nikon Coolpix 995 (the CF slot is a bit narrow). When using this adapter on the Rebel, there was a slight (but hardly noticeable) lag when saving photos onto the card, so if read/write speed is really an issue, I would suggest using a high speed CF card. Otherwise, this adapter performs admirably, and makes it very convenient for me (all I need to carry now are SD cards and readers).

But when I tested the adapter on PC using a Extreme III SD card, the writing speed is only about 3.9 mb/s. For recording 1080p video with 7D, one would need writing speed almost twice as fast. So it probably should work for taking still photos (albeit slow), but is unlikely to work for recording video longer than a few seconds. I also looked at a couple of other adapters available on Amazon. Unfortunately, based on the reviews, they don't appear any faster.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works beautifully with Nikon D70s and Eye-FI Connect X2 4GB, January 30, 2011

This review is from: SD/SDHC/MMC to CompactFlash (CF) Type II Adapter (Personal Computers)
I've seen a number of complaints regarding SD to CF adapters being incompatible with their cameras or the Eye-Fi cards, but I would say that it's largely due to the reviewers not being clear about the specifications of their equipment and the requirements to make the combination work.

1) Most SD to CF adapters come in the CF Type II form factor. So make sure your camera accept CF cards of this size before you buy this adapter.

2) The new Eye-Fi X2 cards are of the SDHC variant. So make sure the adapter is able to read SDHC cards before you purchase it. (this adapter does)

3) There are some cameras that do not play well with Eye-Fi cards that are being stuck in an adapter. I'm unsure whether it's an issue with the adapter or the camera. All I can say is that this combination works for my Nikon D70s so fellow D70s users may go ahead with this option.

4) You may realise that the Eye-Fi card is not transferring photos even though your camera is turned on. Unfortunately, the card can only work when it's powered and being accessed by the camera. For me, the only way to ensure that my photos are sent is to keep the LCD screen on since the camera appears to go into a semi-sleep mode when the LCD goes off. Try extending the screen timeout duration on your camera.

5) The wifi range of the Eye-Fi card is reduced when being placed in the adapter. Again, a common problem but I've overcome it by using my Android handset as a mobile wireless router (using the portable hotspot feature) and carrying the handset on me when I shoot photos.

Hope this clears up most of the issues people have with Eye-Fi cards and SD to CF adapters.

1.0 out of 5 stars Does not work with Canon EOS Digital Rebel and/or Eye Fi, November 28, 2010

I bought this along with the Eye-Fi Explore X2 8 GB Class 6 SDHC Wireless Photo & Memory Uploads EYE-FI-8EX as suggested by amazon since it stated it works with digital cameras. When the adaptor finally arrived, I tried it in my camera. It physically fit but my camera showed CF Error. I tried formatting it in my camera and received a Error 99 code which locked up my camera. I tried formatting in my pc, no change in results. My camera accepted a standard type II cf of 8gb so I know it's not the flash size. When looking at the size of the eye fi with the adaptor on my my camera, it showed disk capacity at 3.8 MB (MB not GB, not a typo).

I bought with the Prime Eligible shipping and thought the return would be the same but it's not an Amazon return. Tricked again! Since the seller has a complicated return policy that includes a 15% restocking fee plus shipping costs, I've decided to take the financial loss and just avoid this company in the future.

Don't buy this unless you are 100% sure it will work.

4.0 out of 5 stars Got it to work with a Nikon D70 and EyeFi card, August 17, 2010

Specifically, with this Eye-Fi card: Eye-Fi Connect X2 4 GB Class 6 SDHC Wireless Flash Memory Card EYE-FI-4CN

I did not have to reformat the card to get it to work with my Nikon D70, however, I did have a couple issues with using the card the first time out-- pictures weren't being properly written to the card, and thus didn't upload. However, my camera has a history of card-writing issues, so it's as likely to be the camera as the adapter.

After running a scandisk on the Eye-Fi card and correcting the errors, the next time I shot, there were no issues-- I see no real difference in speed between this adapter and a SanDisk Ultra II CF card, which is more likely a limitation of my old Nikon than the cards themselves.

The Eye-Fi uploads do work from the camera, with delays of between 5 to 15 seconds before I start seeing the uploads. The range does appear to be reduced by the camera body, but I haven't tried to definitively determine how far away I can get and still have it see the router.

I have also used the adapter with some "normal" SD cards, and those worked just fine as well.

I purchased this primarily so I could shoot in my studio and be able to review what I was shooting without pulling the card out of the camera-- as far as the adapter goes, it seems to be correctly working with the Eye-Fi card, so I think that I'm getting what I need out of this. I don't think there even is a Wifi solution for a camera this old, and the cost of the adapter and Eye-Fi card is much cheaper than getting a manufacturer's wifi solution.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good For Canon Rebel, August 6, 2009

I use this with my Canon Digital Rebel. If there is a speed difference between this and a standard CF card, then it is slight and well worth the trade-off. SD cards as significantly cheaper and more universally used than CF. The adapter was a great investment.

3.0 out of 5 stars works well with SDHC cards but not with eye-fi, May 27, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: SD/SDHC/MMC to CompactFlash (CF) Type II Adapter (Personal Computers)
i got this card to use with my CANON 1Ds and the eye-fi card, but for some reason the camera doesn't want to recognized the eye-fi card. I also tried the first rebel, the Canon T2i, the Canon 30d and nothing. i am using the adapter with a 32gig SDHC card on the canon 1Ds and it works realy good and fast. I wish canon will release firmwares updates to suport the eye-fi with this kind of adapters.
