This is an EXCELLENT instrument but slightly below my older Olfa in terms of weight and feel. The Olfa is somewhat older so perhaps they used a heavier gauge stainless steel body (compared to this SDI or a newer Olfa) but I can definitely tell them apart in a blind test. With the comparative nitpicking aside, I would probably be giving it 5 stars if I wasn't holding the Olfa in my other hand. Bottom line is that the SDI is a GREAT tool at a GREAT price so do not hesitate at all if you need one. And even if you don't, buy one anyway and carry it around like a pen. You'll soon wonder how you ever got by without having such a fine little cutting tool with you at all times.

I bought this knife to use it for opening plastic packaging and also doing some plastic cutting on delicate pieces. So far I am really impressed with the quality of this product. The metal body feels durable. The knife comes with two sets of blades. First set has 30 degree blades and the tip looks longer. Second set has shorter tips. I believe these might be 60 degree. I recommend this blade for small plastic cutting.

I have used an Olfa silver for more than thirty years, but decided I wanted to get a second one, for those times I misplace my main one. This one is solidly built and has the advantage of supporting two styles of blades - and comes with a supply of each. Definitely the best value available for this kind of knife. I love out sturdy, yet compact this little utility knife is.

Knife is comfortable to hold, lock mechanism works well preventing the blade from popping back under pressure. I find it well worth the few more $'s, compared to cheapo plastic knives.

The blades that come with this knife are extremely sharp and the handle makes delicate cuts easy. When I asked for replacement blades for my plastic utility knife the guy at the local hardware told it would be just as cheap to buy a new one for $2.50 so I did. It came with one blade which wasn't very sharp this one comes with twenty blades. Must be the new math or the guy at the hardware store is like my old utility knife - not very sharp.
