Product Description

Crimping Pliers. In A New Smaller Size For Micro Crimp Beads. From the same people who brought you the original crimping pliers, comes this new model - made for crimping smaller size crimp beads on fine wire and cord. Perfect to use with 1mm wide or 1.5mm wide Micro Crimp Beads, and beading wire that is.015 Inch or less. Measurements: Pliers are 5 inches long, tips are 2mm at the narrowest point. Lap joint construction. NOTE: These pliers are intended for beading and other fine hobby work. Not recommended for heavy duty applications such as automotive, home improvement, or maritime use. If you are unfamiliar with the way crimping pliers work, please read the following and consult the diagram at left. THESE INSTRUCTIONS WILL BE INCLUDED WITH YOUR PLIERS. It's actually very easy to do - after following the instructions once, you probably won't need them ever again. The crimper is a hand-tool which forms a smooth unobtrusive crimp, banishing forever the unsightly sharp-edged crimp formed by conventional flattening methods. It forms a finished crimp whose diameter is smaller than the original crimp bead. If desired the crimp can be hidden in a crimp bead cover, a clamshell type bead tip, or slipped into a large hole bead. (See diagram). After the last bead (A), the jewelry wire or monofilament (B) is passed throught the crimp bead (C) - around the clasp or jump-ring (D) - back through the crimp (C) - and optionally back through the last bead (A). In Step 1, the crimp bead or tube is fully secured to the cord in the crimping station (E). Best results are obtained when the two wires are positioned on either side of the center dimple. The resulting crimped bead now has a valley or dimple in the middle. In Step 2, the final shaping is carried out in the rounding station (F), where the bead is, in essence, folded over itself and compacted, making it smaller and causing it to grip the wire or cord very tightly.

5.0 out of 5 stars What did we do without crimping pliers?, April 22, 2010
This review is from: SE Bead Crimping Plier - 5.5"
Actually I've been beading long enough to remember squishing crimps flat. Crimping pliers are wonderful, and I have these in a couple sizes.
They are invaluable if you do a lot of stringing with beading cables like Soft Flex Best Beading Wire .024" 100' for ending the wire securely. Knots won't generally hold in beading cables and they are the strongest option for heavier beads so you need another way to terminate them which is where crimps come in. Using these pliers you can crimp down crimps very securely and very neatly. Instead of just squishing the crimp flat, they fold the crimp with the first part of the crimping process, then compact it very nicely into a small cylinder. It's a very neat professional finish to crimp beads. I've also used crimp beads on headpins for specific effects and these work very well to crimp down beads around head pins. They still can slide off head pins but for decorative use it does just fine.

I use these all the time to crimp my crimp beads. I had bought the regular size ones but they didn't always hold. I now use these and have had no problems with my crimps lasting!
