Exceptional Lighted Magnifier with Different Lenses.,

I have used many different magnifiers in my past as a jewelry designer. I bought this one as my own to use for tying tiny flies for fishing. I found this headband magnifier to be exactly what I have been looking for. It is great to have the different strength lenses and I also like the aimable light. This was a great buy for me. I highly recommend this magnifier to anyone needing to get in close to what ever you might be working on.

A Fair Product for the Price,

This product is not too durable in construction, but with gentle use, is suitable for it's price. The plastic lens did not hold it's position after the first two uses (it flopped back and forth), so I had to run a piece of thin wire through the hinge to strengthen it. The bulb in the light keeps coming loose and I have to tighten it periodically. It's hard to tighten the bulb (even with my small fingers), so I gently used a pair of needle nose pliers, which worked fine. The bulb does not overheat at all, even after several hours of continued use. The lenses are very good for being acrylic, the view is clear and the selection of ranges are great. I am an avid knitter, using very small needles for intricate work and have developed very poor eyesight over the years, but this magnifier allows me to be hands free and see very clearly. The light acts like a mini spot light, shining directly on the work area and can be positioned easily to the left, right, up or down. It runs on 2 AA batteries. The batteries do not seem to last very long. I replace them after about 3 hours of use; the light fades and then goes out. The headpiece is adjustable and would fit anyone. It feels ok, but it does have some weight and gets a bit uncomfortable after a while. This magnifier would probably be more suited to short projects rather than what I have been using it for, which can take several hours at a time.

If it were possible to give less than one star, I would.,

In all my 67 years, I have NEVER come across such a terrible product! Nothing about it worked as promised.
The light switch didn't work AT ALL. The side screws never held it up, no matter how tight I tried it, even without the weight to the lens. When they were added, it was a joke! DO NOT WASTE A DIME ON THIS. I returned mine and am absolutely appalled that they would be allowed to market such an inferior product. As someone else said, if I had seen this in a store, it wouldn't have occurred to me to buy it because it is made of such flimsy materials.

Item broken after about a week of use. Mechanism that should hold the angle of the lens snapped. Virtually worthless now.

Low Quality Chinese Junk,

This item is cheap Chinese junk. The one I received required repair to switch in order to work at all. Shoddy manufacture and ergonomics are a joke.
Not worth anywhere near the price paid. If I had seen this item in a store I would not have bought it at any price. Very disappointed. Seller should be ashamed to offer such low-quality Chinese trash.

I was a bit worried purchasing this not knowing exactly how it would fit. The headband does adjust rather easily so there was no issue there. The front does seem to be a bit top heavy after putting the batteries in for the light. I personally feel the light is a great addition but it does set too far back on the visor in order to be used straight down. The magnifiers are good but you need to really pay attention to which one you pick out if your not sure about the magnification. Plus for those of us who already wear corrective glasses or contacts it certainly can be a difference. I can't say that I wouldn't recommend this because I already have basically because of the price and what you get with it. It certainly does serve its purpose for me as far as threading needles or doing small details on ceramic pieces. I haven't tried it with my jewelry making but I imagine it will do what I need it to do properly.

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my dad and he absolutely loves it! He is getting older and has trouble seeing small things he is working on, so this turned out to be the perfect gift for him. My mom says he uses it all the time and has no complaints. You can't beat the price either-I only payed $20! I know my dad would definitely recommend this product to others.

This magnifier is probably worth the money, but I'll have to see how long it lasts.
Pros: There is plenty of room to wear your glasses. The lenses are made of hard plastic and pivot 180 degrees. When wearing my glasses, the focal distance is several feet for the 1.2X lens, and about 3 inches for the 3.5X lens, and the other 2 lenses are in between. The lenses are clean and free of defects. I can't see why some reviewers had problems adjusting the band and up-down tightness. I see nothing wrong with that. The lenses come in a nice plastic storage box. The light swivels in all directions. Cons: The lenses snap into the front of the headband with fairly heavy force. Getting them out by pulling is very hard unless you grab the lens and pull hard, and then you will need to clean that lens. The lens insertion might loosen up after using the magnifier for a while, or maybe that insertion point will be what fails first. The directions are a Chinese attempt at English and are very confusing. I found if you take a large screwdriver and CAREFULLY pry between the lens edge and the base socket, the lens will pop out easily. They could have designed a better mechanism to mount the lenses. The light is NOT an LED! What a surprise. Its just an old school 3v. screw-in flashlight bulb, and not very bright. An LED would improve this magnifier a lot. Overall: It works OK.

My husband purchased these for small closeup intricate projects with the idea they might help! WELL, he absolutely L O V E S them!! He finds them very helpful bringing everything so much closer, even without wearing his glasses! We live in 2 locales and he even keeps these glasses in his car for those unexpected little jobs that he may come across!!
He would highly recommend them!!! |
