Great for Children and Parents,
By This microscope is inexpensive, compact, hardy, and easy to use. No messing around with slides and such. You just place the end of the microscope on whatever you want to look at, turn the light on, and focus. I carried this around with me a lot, to look at bugs, plants, the fibers of fabric, my own skin, and whatever else caught my eye. It lasted from when I was 8 until well into high school. The relatively low magnification makes it unsuitable for serious scientific work, but for the scientifically curious child or adult, this microscope is a must have.

Pocket Microscope Magnifier,

My fifth grade scientists totally love this product for looking at the class collection of rocks and minerals. The pocket microscopes are very portable which makes observation outdoors easy. Science became much more interesting with tools that are fairly low in cost.

Excellent seller, questionable item.,
First one I got lacked a lightbulb. The seller sent me a replacement, but it shorted out on first use. Seller then sent me a third one which WORKS. I'd say this item is made with poor quality control, but if you get one that works, it's great. The seller "Hydrogardens" deserves a star for prompt free multiple replacement!

I bought this for a child's stocking stuffer. When I opened it, it looked pretty cheap, so I was surprised at how well it works. I snapped two AA batteries in the toy and tried it out. You must lay the end of the microscope flat against anything you are doing to look at. The view is truly marvelous! Ordinary things become amazing. For example, when I looked at a tablecloth, you could see the fibers in the threads. I couldn't put it down. This is sure to be a delight for any child. Only time will tell how durable it is.

this actually works pretty good. i strapped it to a tripod to hold it steady and am pleased with the results. the light works well. its a very basic microscope, but to look at coins or stamps it works very well and gives good detail.

This little pocket microscope is quite incredible. It is powered by common AA batteries and provides **plenty of light** focused on the item being examined which makes for a nice clear crisp image.
When I put batteries in this microscope and tried it for the first time, I used it to magnify a word that I had written on a piece of plain white paper with a standard "lead" pencil. After I mastered how to focus properly, I could even see the **fine particles of graphite dust** on the paper adjacent to the word that I had written! We have a 7-year old youngster in our family who will have a great time with this. (This is the same youngster who was experimenting with a large magnifying glass one sunny day recently.... And set our Halloween scarecrow on fire!) This is not a precision instrument, but it's more than a toy. I can't say how satisfactory it would be for serious adult use. Footnote: This microscope produces an upside-down image. It might take a bit of practice for a youngster to maneuver properly.

my husband uses this. it is cheaply made. we've replaced it once already. batteries need more space to replace. if the lightbulb no longer works it can't be replaced, thus why we purchased a new one. yet, while it works, it works great. hope this helps.

This 30 power microscope works very well and is a great bargain. It's possible to photograph subjects through it with a small digital camera. I wouldn't classify it as a toy.

SE Illuminated Pocket Microscope with White LED LightThis microscope is very intriguing to young and old alike. During the past 30 years I have purchased similar designs as gifts for 5- to 50-year olds. I ordered five of these this year. One arrived with the stitching in the "leatherette" case ripped, can't be resewn. Also, in all five microscopes the installation of two AA batteries was next to impossible. The battery compartment is too small. One battery was "uncapped" while trying to install. These are cheap copies of the design that I was used to in earlier years (Micronta). It might be worth it to consider spending a bit more for better quality -- Carson Micro Max Lighted Microscope
