Update: Years later. I've purchased dozens of these now and given them away to friends. I find the best use for them is for people who have to eat but not in the standard 9-5 settings. My friends are called "flow-bo's", they're circus type performers who often have to scarf down a meal backstage. Many are vegans who prepare their own meals. I keep one with me at all times either in the glove box or a bag so that i don't have to take plastic utensils when I take out lunch. Yes, there are more minimalist ways to do this, including a little spoon you can hook in with your keys, but I like having all that i need to have a civilized meal, even if I have to make it myself.
Upon reflection on your comments about the pokey thing. Here's my opinion. first, I notice they edited the test here to include a "tent reamer". I don't know what this is supposed to be, maybe an awl variant. But I doubt this was part of the original ideal and someone in marketing came up with it. This tool is ALL about food, it's not a swiss army knife, it's not a multi-tool. Honestly, I think they put it in there because there was room for something and they didn't want to leave it blank. The best suggestion was a foil scorer for wine, followed closely by a punch for draining cans. It's not a file, nor is it an awl, it's missing the necessary components. But after seeing a video where they take a can of tuna in oil, punch a hole in the center of the top, then drop a wick made of paper towel in the hole to make a 2 hour candle I think the "punch" idea has great merit. Oh, they eat the tuna afterwards. neat.
Whoever is getting food in the gears is not cleaning this appropriately.Read more ›
If you aren't prepared, you may think that this "falls apart" when it separates. But this is simply so that the knife and fork can be used together as they naturally are at home. Unlike plastic, this one won't break when cutting food and won't melt when stirring coffee or tea (who wants melted plastic in tea or coffee?)
In fact, if you had a very small apartment with a shortage of kitchen drawers, you could easily stow these in a tin. Besides camping trips, this would work very well for eating lunch at your desk while at work. It is also fun for surprising visitors who think this is some kind of Swiss army knife. Should be included in an emergency kit for harsh winters and in case you get lost while camping.
Of course, you'll need equally or more important survival gear beside fold-up silverware. But this can be washed, used again and help make meal time much easier. Have a good emergency blanket and (depending on the situation) a tent, dehydrated food, plenty of water, first aid kit, etc...and add this to your gear.
Many seem to be way overpriced for a set of fork, spoon and knife($15-20).
This came to my attention as the cheapest choice.
The finish and quality is not great but very acceptable for less than $4.
With some sharpening, the knife can be used as a steak knife.
What I didn't like (minus one star) was the oil used for lubrication. Be sure to remove it before the first use.
It smells like chemical lubricant similar to WD40.
To remove the oil, I kept mine in hot water with some detergent over night.

Exterior panels, spoon, knife and fork are all made with stainless steel, but some internal plates seem to be rusting only after few use and clean-ups. Even with rusting, it is still usable, but I have to admit it looks awful. (minus one star)
1) Looks great - I know this isn't a "real" pro, but whatever. This thing looks a lot like a similar tool my cousin was issued in the Navy. It has a certain 'coolness' factor to it, and it's a great size for the restricted carrying capacity that long hikes/camp-trips necessitate.
2) Separates into components - this is definitely the best part of this multi-tool, and I was not aware of it at the time of purchase. I uploaded some pics to demonstrate what this thing can do. Essentially, the different tools can separate off of the main body of the tool to be used separately. For example, if you need to use the spoon, detach the spoon and use it. Same goes for the fork, or bottle opener, or knife. Every tool can be removed from the other one, flipped out, and used independently of the other tools. This cuts weight of the individual tools as well as increases ease of use!
3) Price, Price, Price - you just, CAN'T beat this price. A+!
4) Every tool needed for a camping kitchen - I consider this thing a camping kitchen to-go. It has a knife, bottle opener, can opener, fork, spoon, corkscrew. It fits every need I have for food-related prep work when I'm in the great outdoors.
1) Unsure of durability - I have no objective observations to support this, but since it was only $4.50, I'm weary that this thing isn't going to hold up over many years of use. Again, this is just a feeling I have, not supported by any experience...Read more ›

Love then, they separate and have a good palm feel.
Clean up nicely. But you will need to shake them liberally to get the water out of the non stainless guts.
Super amazing love that they came with individuals protective case, only reason I gave 4 stars is cause one of them came with some scratches but doesn't really bother me they will... Read morePublished 8 days ago by curtis
