Meets My Needs,
This review is from: SE 20 LED Silver Lamp Light
I got this lamp to supplement inaedquate cafeteria lighting during my working weekends. I like to read while eating and the minimal lighting provided at my facility during what are off-hours for most just won't do. The 20 LEDs don't provide lighting that's as evenly distributed as a single incandescent or fluorescent bulb would provide; for that reason it's not ideal for reading, but it is tolerable, and the compact size, light weight, cord-free convenience, and affordable cost combine to make me well-satisfied with this item.

A Very Practical Little Lamp,
This review is from: SE 20 LED Silver Lamp Light
I bought this on a whim to use during power outages, which are common enough here in Maine. Recently I started having back problems and found I could only sleep comfortably on the couch. But getting up off that couch to turn off the lights after reading is agony, so I started using this little light. It's unpretentious but extremely practical. Its ratcheting head throws a good reading beam right where you want it, and the D batteries last forever (maybe 50 hours of bedtime reading so far on the first set), and their weight gives it good stability. Makes me wonder why so many modern gizmos use those foolish little AA cells that cost a mint and last a minute.

For two years we had complaints from the people handling the registation desk for a multi-day event that they needed additional lighting. Unfortunately, the area where the table was set up had no access to an electrical outlet. We purchased two of these lamps and the problem was solved. It has two different levels of light output, and although it does not cover a wide footprint, the lights illuminated the workarea quite well and everyone was pleased.

BRIGHT LIGHT,

It works well for places where you need temporary extra lighting, such as doing a project on the dining room table. It also is better than candles or flashlights when the electricity goes off. It stands up well securely and is very bright. In fact, LED lights are a little too bright so I try to keep lens away from my eyes. Definitely good value.

I mostly bought this to use during power outages. We're not looking forward to putting this LED light to the test, but I think it'll serve out needs. With the 3D batteries inserted the lamp feels very sturdy and substantial, so much so that there's little worry of it tipping over. Despite the 3-D batteries, there's no 3D effect evident where the light shines.I like the design of the lamp, its ergonomic grip, its convenient On/Off Switch, and the two light settings. There are three light settings if you include Off as the text on the box does. Though made of plastic with rubber accents, the lamp doesn't look cheap. It's dusk at this very moment, and I'm typing this review by the light of the computer's monitor and our new SE 20 LED lamp. The illumination isn't excessive or brilliant, but is adequate to light the large desk calendar and the keyboard sitting on it. I have brighter flashlights than this light, but the LED lamp will allow one of us to read comfortably during a power outage. My guess is that Mrs. Spudman will get this lamp, and I'll get to use a flashlight. I'd say this lamp is well worth its cost, so much so that I probably will buy another one.

I got one of these and really, really liked it. 20 LED's put out a lot of light, but you can choose to use 10 or 20. It takes 3 D batteries so it goes a long time between battery replacement. It's like a really bright flashlight and small enough to carry around the house easily but a lamp that would stand alone with a gooseneck, which I really needed because I do a lot of crossword puzzles and need a lot of light to read. Then I sat on it. Oops. I immediately went to Amazon and found two sources to get another one, counting cost and S&H variations, they ended up costing the same amount. I ordered, got it in three days, and I'm still in love with it. Best portable light source I own.

Better than 'hand crank',

I thought that I had the ultimate in emergency lanterns. It was one with a hand crank generator/battery.Then the Island of Oahu (Hawaii) had a total black out! I quickly discovered that I am TOO old to do required cranking. So I began searching for a battery one. This lamp looks like a desk one, but due the 'tilting head', it can also be used to light up a room...a nice bonus. Now I am ready for another blackout. (We have had several since I have lived here!)

Inadequate as reading lamp,

I thought from the picture that this would be ideal as a reading lamp during power outages (which are frequent here). I certainly did not expect it to provide the type of light that a desk lamp provides, but I expected to set it on a chair-side table and use it for reading for limited periods of time. Unfortunately, the neck is so short that there is no way to angle it correctly for reading unless it is placed on a tall table beside the chair. A long goose-neck support would be much more useful. On the plus side, it is stable and does not fall over easily.

I like these lights. I purchased these lights to put on my woodworking tools. Just glue a few magnets on the bottom and you have light that can be moved from tool to tool. This is a good product and I will probably buy more.
