SE 6 oz. Stainless Steel Hip Flask

I bought both this 6-oz and the Oggi 8-Ounce Stainless Steel HIP Flask with Filling Funnel, Stainless at the same time. The Oggi is significantly pricier, but they both passed my 10-day leak test, both look the same (other than size), and are obviously made at the same place. Even the stamp on the bottom is identical; see the photo I uploaded.

The big differences are that this is much less expensive, a bit smaller and doesn't come with a magnetic box and a funnel.

For the money, this is a 5 star flask.

CONSTRUCTION - The steel construction is thicker than other flasks I have purchased for more $$ on Amazon. Very solid feel - sides can bend and center if depressed hard with thumb or if you sit on the flask, but the steel walls do not give much and the flask has yet to become permanently damaged.

LOOK - attractive smooth, matte/low gloss sides and high gloss top. The contrasting look is nice.

PERFORMANCE - 6oz is the perfect size for discrete transportation since it is entirely concealed in the back pocket of even tighter fitting jeans. Most stainless steel flasks recommend you do not leave alcohol in them for more than 12 hours. On a few occasions, I have left this flask with alcohol for up to a week (empty, but still with liquid residue on the sides/etc). After rinsing out the flask, there was no odor left over and no damage to the finish that I could notice after looking into it with a flashlight. Also, I tried drinking plain water and did not notice any alteration to the taste, also suggesting there was no significant damage (if any) to the finish/etc.

FYI - 6oz is the equivalent of three standard shots.

I opted to go simple for my groomsmen's gifts and found this flask. A similar flask (and probably obtained from the same vendor) at a local shop was being sold for $12.99 - plus 10 dollar basic engraving. I took my 9 flasks to a local engraving shop and will have the end result ready by the end of this week.

The flasks have a nice weight to them and aren't by any means 'cheap', despite the product description. When setting up the job, my engraver asked where I ordered the flasks and provided her with the link; she said that the price was easily 100% less than what her business was currently paying for on a really flimsy basic flask.

Chinese-made, poor quality control. Bought 10 as gifts, but 7 of them leak.

The problem is that the top and bottom panels are welded to the tubular portion of the body. Then, the manufacturer apparently runs the welds over a grinder to smooth them out. Whoever does the grinding has too heavy a hand, and opens up leaks in most of the flasks.

In addition, the swivel-away screw top is poorly aligned on about 40% of the flasks, making it difficult to line up and screw the lid back on.

I didn't return them because they were fairly cheap, and I want to improve my MIG welding skills. But if you don't have access to such a tool, steer clear of these flasks.

I bought this and took it out on my 21st birthday. The next day, it was leaking gin all over my dresser when I took it out of my bag. Apparently there is a hole in the bottom or the lining isn't solid enough. I guess you get what you pay for, but this was still a pretty flask. Smooth and nice. But apparently useless so don't buy it.

The cheap (around $5.00 at the time of purchase) SE 6 oz. Stainless Steel Hip Flask isn't much to look at - unless you like spending long hours starting at smooth steel surfaces - but what it lacks in physical attractiveness it makes up for in discreetness and, although a little wide, will fit in most pockets for a quick pick-me-up on those certain stressful days/when you just want to sneak some booze out to a public place.

As with most flasks, stick to putting straight booze in it (I recommend whiskey/vodka, no fruity drinks, or you will have fruit flavor smell/taste on everything) and make sure to clean the morning after, for best results.

Oh and don't forget to purchase a funnel if you don't already have one (can get these through Amazon also), as you will spill precious booze without it.

For the price you can't complain. Going to use this for going out all the time now. No more paying for overpriced drinks. If youre stuck choosing between the 8oz one and the 6oz I personally recommend the 6oz. Theyre both the same width the 6oz is shorter, making it easier to conceal. Overall very pleased, this flask gets the job done nicely.

I bought this one mainly for novelty. Chugged cough syrup diluted with water in it at prom (coughing up a storm that day). Started a few joking conversations.

Not leaky. Doesn't come with a funnel which could be problematic.

I purchased these flasks because they seemed like such a good deal, but in the future I will definitely pay more for a better product. The solder seams were very crudely finished compared to others I've purchased before, and a couple of the caps weren't threaded to close easily. The price point was incredibly low, however, so if someone needs quantity, I suppose these would meet the need.

The product was great. None of its advertisement was misleading. I read one review that said part of this flask was flimsy, but it served its purpose just fine and I found nothing wrong with it. It was a great price and I do not see a need to spend more on a 'better' flask. It fit great in my back pocket (and I'm a girl, and not a big one at that). It also fit in my jeans at my waist, and was discreet.
