Riding the Waves...,
By
This review is from: SEASICK (Paperback)
I recently cruised to Bermuda and, while riding the waves, read Seasick. I found myself reading some paragraphs to my wife. My wife would declare to me, " That's exactly how I feel about that!" Gloria Nagy has a deep sense of human nature and although the book is fiction, I've seen many of these people in real life. I had about 20 pages to go and could not wait to tie the unknown loose ends together. What a surprising and " thank God it's fiction(?)" ending! I believe it is a very good book and do not think it will disappoint the reader. ( I was too excited to get SEASICK...)

An engrossing read. Highly recommended!,

This review is from: SEASICK (Paperback)
A funny, satirical novel, with a cast of wildly complex and disparate characters. This is a lengthy tome, but you'll be glued to the story from beginning to end. If you like the complexity and unpredictability of Hitchcock's films, and the loquacious prose and comic genius of Dickens, you'll find Ms. Nagy's novel an engrossing read. Highly recommended!

Re-reading With Pleasure and Gratitude,
By
This review is from: SEASICK (Paperback)
I am reading SeaSick for the third time and will assuredly read it again. Gloria Nagy's profound insight into who human beings are and how they behave leaves more to peer into with each of my repeated explorations.
The novel is set on a commercial cruise with the characters (staff and passengers alike) skillfully developed as to their inner psyches and how they transfer to social interaction. It is funny and poignant, with a surprise twist--all a testament to Ms. Nagy's writing skill and her intense knowledge of the human condition. I am grateful to have this 'not-put-downable' delight not leave my hands. Anita Dorich, GMBooks, IPA Management, Los Angeles

A who-done-int and a why-done-it,
By N. R. Goldberg "NRG" (Newton, MA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: SEASICK (Paperback)
Seasick by Gloria Nagy is a page turner set on the high seas. Every one on the cruise ship Palace of the Dolphins, from the owners to the staff, has something to hide. This novel will keep you guessing until the very last pages. The complex cast of characters cuts across all segments of society. Like her protagonist, Rory Saltz, Ms. Nagy has a shrewd eye for detail and a knack for seeing the true self. A great summer read!

Smooth Summer Sailing?,
This review is from: SEASICK (Paperback)
Ladies and Gentlemen...look no further for your summer read! Slip Seasick into your weekend bag, into your beach bag, into your briefcase for God's sake..and prepare to enjoy. Watch the happy get sad and the sad get happy, and enjoy every bit of the incredible dialogue that takes them there. Nagy is at once scathing and sympathetic in her examination of the human condition. You'll find your favorite aboard the ship and undoubtably will see yourself in someone, too. Will they be one in the same? I'm now rereading my favorite passages, and it's with anxious anticipation that I await Nagy's next novel.

An intriguing exploration of human nature and a highly recommended read,

This review is from: SEASICK (Paperback)
Some people pay money to ride on a ship to nowhere in particular. Some would call that mad. "SeaSick" is a tale set on the cruise ship called Palace of the Dolphins, but author Gloria Nagy's story isn't about the ship; it is instead about the people on the ship, an eccentric cast of characters sure to boggle the mind with their personality quirks and humanity. "SeaSick" is an intriguing exploration of human nature and a highly recommended read.

The perfect read ...,
By Roberta Wallace "NYReader" (New York, NY USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: SEASICK (Paperback)
Sit our back, relax, and get into your life jacket... What a great summer read -- heck, what a great read for any time...It's a mystery with a page-turning plot wrapped inside a laser look at Today's 400 and the people who serve them, wrapped around a cruise ship and the cruise industry itself. There's a cast of unforgettable rich and fictionally famous passengers (not to mention the crew and hired help -- from the coffee shop waitress to the Star of the Revue) and a plot that doesn't stop. Seven days aboard one of the world's largest cruise ships, and in believable scene after scene, the author takes you from the ritziest suite to the out-of-the-way medical office and stem to stern. The dialogue crackles and zips. And the author's unflinching eye for the social details that matter made this reader feel like a real voyeur. She gets us totally inside the cruise industry with all its horrors and delights, inside the rarefied realm of Park Avenue deal-makers and their families, and inside the hearts and minds of some of the best and worst people ever to set sail in the lap of luxury. Totally recommended.

Can't get enough of SeaSick!,
By
This review is from: SEASICK (Paperback)
From start to finish this book takes you on a journey and you don't want it to end. The characters are real and observing them is all you want to do, I couldn't get enough. Alas, all good things must come to an end and what an end it is. SeaSick is making the rounds among all my girlfriend's and we will never cruise the same again. Ms. Nagy Keep them great books coming.

I have read this book and it is terrible!!!!!!!!!!I am not sure how much she had to pay all the critics to write such reviews....I guess that is business. I could not keep interested in the book. It took everything for me just to finish it!!!!!!!!!! The only good thing about the book was the editing!!!!!!!Good job Melissa!!!!!!!!!!
