5.0 out of 5 stars A matter for Men, August 19, 2001
This review is from: SEASON FOR SLAUGHTER (The War Against the Chtorr, Book 4) (Mass Market Paperback)
Well i have to say that this series is one of the best I have read. I remember buying the first book in the series back around 1991 and couldnt wait to read the next and next, then to my horror i had to wait a few months for this book to come out and finished it that same day. It has been 8 1/2 years since this book came out and i just read the series again (i cant stop myself), I just wanted people to know that there are people like me out there waiting over 8 years for his next book in the series. The reason I also decided to post this was to make sure he was still alive, and to let him know that to keep his fan base he really needs to finish the series or at least put the next book out. I really really hope you read this david in the hopes that you will stop writing these other books and let us find out what happens to McCarthy and Lizard. Besides that point the best all round book i have read for sci-fi

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid sci-fi!, June 3, 2005
This review is from: SEASON FOR SLAUGHTER (The War Against the Chtorr, Book 4) (Mass Market Paperback)
One of the better of the series, some good action and further development of the main character. However lke others, I've lost faith that there will be any closure on the storyline as it's been *years* since the last book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Book 5 will come...eventually, December 2, 2002
This review is from: SEASON FOR SLAUGHTER (The War Against the Chtorr, Book 4) (Mass Market Paperback)
At the time of writing Book 4 (in 1994), Gerrold mentions that he was about 30,000 words into Book 5. I've looked up various mentions on the Internet since then, and one thing that Gerrold has repeatedly states was that Book 5 was very hard to write. From what I gather, Book 5 is literally a book where Jim goes insane and becomes at least partially terraformed by the Chtorran ecology. I gather that much of it will be halucinations.

In early 2001 David Gerrold mentioned on his website that he had just finished an important turning point in the plotline of the novel, and had also passed 100,000 words (with a projected book length of 300,000 words). His website now has not been updated in months, but still posts a 2002 release for A Method For Madness.

For all of you who are upset over the long wait, keep in mind that he is quite busy with other things. As his website says, he has a special-needs child that takes up a lot of his time and is more important to him than anything else. Just give him time.
