Brilliant on Aluminum,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: SEM Paints (SEM39683) Self Etching Primer - Gray (Misc.)
I've been using this stuff to prime the interior aluminum parts of a Van's Aircraft kitplane, and I must say, it's one of the best products I've ever sprayed from a rattle can. It coats evenly in even the harshest conditions, bonds to the metal well, and leaves a nice, durable, matte gray finish. It dries for recoat in less than ten minutes, and the primed parts are ready to install in under 12 hours (probably less). I've used a c-frame dimpler to dimple holes in a primed surface I'd forgotten to do before priming, and the primer showed no signs of scratching or other damage after the fact. Even the sharp corners of an unprotected bucking bar have trouble doing much damage to this stuff. I've been able to scratch the finish off a test piece using a nail, but other than that, it holds up admirably. I'm sure it's not as resilient as a two-part epoxy primer, but who wants to mess with all that? Just pull a can of SEM off the shelf, shake it up, and fire away.
