About the Author

David Amerland is an expert search engine optimizer, writer and author who cut his teeth on the web back in the days when SEO was a newborn science requiring the insertion of a couple of meta tags in plain vanilla HTML code. Since then he has guided organisations in developing their web presence and has been instrumental in the optimization campaigns of corporations in Britain, the USA, Australia and Greece. I am new to the SEO game and as a new website owner I thought it was going to be difficult. This is the third SEO book I tried and the one which made be believe in the power of the web. My site is on Google's first page for 10 main keywords and I have now seen it begin to rise in both Yahoo and BING and I am over the moon! The good news is that I have not even touched on half the chapters. I was just so happy to see it perform so well I have just kept on doing what worked. The book is easy to understand. The chapters are short and to the point and I just love the straightforward honesty. For me this is a big winner. If you are new to the SEO game or are simply tired of the same mumbo-jumbo everyone's spouting this is gold!

If you're anything like me you'd be forgiven for thinking that SEO is some kind of magical language that makes search engines sit up and beg. It's not and this book is a great help in understanding what to do in plain English just so you can get your website indexed fast and indexed well. Until I read it I was prepared to spend endless hours with a dictionary trying to understand what I needed to do. With `SEO Help' I managed to learn the basics about SEO in just over a day plus it gave me all the places to go online in order to use the same tools SEO experts use when they analyze a website and learn about its keywords and what the competition is doing.

SEO is not magic and the author goes into extreme pains to explain that. The book is very practical in terms of advice and it does actually make you feel that, for once, you are in control of what your website does on the web. I never thought I would ever say this but I feel that I finally understand SEO!

I am like any other webmaster or business owner with websites - short of time, on a budget and with too many demands being made on my time. I have known that I needed to do something about SEO for some time now, but hiring a firm is too expensive and I am never sure how to check what they do (or at least I didn't until now) and doing it myself was something I was not sure I could do. SEO Help opened my eyes. The author has an easy style which is a pleasure to read, he has made SEO easy to understand and the 20-step breakdown is nothing less than inspired. I found myself starting at step one and going all the way to step 20 (I will be going back and repeating a few of them only a little more carefully this time!)

Based on what I know now I feel confident enough to do my own SEO work under any circumstances and, more importantly, I feel that I know how to check when things change in the search engine world and then what to do about it. I feel informed about some of the mysteries in the SEO world.

As a layperson who did not have a lot of understanding of search engine optimization I have no difficulty recommending this book to anyone who wants to know more about SEO, who wants easy to understand instructions and who really wants to see results fast.

I don't normally write reviews like this but after all the searching and digging for SEO books to read on Amazon, I just had to come back and rate this book. After a lot of desperate searching, I stumbled across David Amerland's SEO Help and on a whim purchased his book. I am so glad that I did!!! Apart from the brilliant professional advice and extremely approachable style, I also found out an amazing magnitude of knowledge on things I never would have dreamed up on my own and a discovered whole lot of things which I was doing wrong...which explains why I was so desperate to find something like this. To get the kind of advice I needed I was facing having to spend a ton of $$$$ with some SEO gurus - thank you Amazon for making this happen so cost-effectively. The book is really, really good and does exactly what it says it will do. This requires NO knowledge of programming, is very easy to do and really is as easy as read and follow. Now I am ready to get my site above everyone else's! I would gladly purchase any other books from this Author!!!

SEO is usually shrouded in acronyms, obscure practices and tends to give uncertain results. It was refreshing therefore, as a layman, to find a book which spoke my language. The author's an expert and his approach on a step-by-step way to demystify the subject is great. I found myself thinking of what I can do to better optimize my website right from chapter one. His tips on creating effective time-saving techniques for better optimization are perfect and for once I felt that here was my very own DIY SEO manual written in a way which did not require me to understand a single line of code or anything about search engine theory. I have started to make copious notes on everything and I feel confident that it is only a matter of time before my own site starts to perform better on search engines. The book touches upon social marketing and employing social networks in order to make SEO gains, I hope the author considers bringing one out on social network marketing on its own. For me this is a big winner!
