I looked at many of these. Don't have a medical requirement but just like gadgets. I read many reviews, and its funny how many people say every model is "accurate" and that they "read the same as my doctor's office." Let me tell you my experience and why this just isn't true.First of all, these devices read pulse and oxygen saturation, with "normal" SpO2 readings in the 95%-100% range, but no less than 90%. That is a pretty narrow range, and if you read the specs of these, most have an accuracy of +/- 2 or 3 digits. In other words, if your SpO2 is REALLY 95%, they may read 92% or read 98% and still be in their stated accuracy. I have four of these devices, this one and three others from different manufacturers. Since I have 10 fingers, I can test them all at once, and guess what, no two read the same. My four will typically span a 4% range. Once may read 93%, one 94%, one 95%, and one 96%. That's a pretty wide range when the "normal" range is only 5% wide. So I really caution people about believing these cheap devices are accurate. They are generally consistent, but I don't call them very accurate. Find your normal values and use those as a guide. Of the four I have this one reads in the middle, so that is a good sign, but I have two of the same model for a different one and both read differently, so even with a single brand, it appears there is variations. Maybe even more interesting is the pulse values don't even match across different models. You'd think that would be cut and dry and it wasn't. So in summary, these are a good guide, but not a perfect device, so use them as a guide, and acknowledge their weaknesses.

The item works well. The write up about getting the free case and batteries included is a myth and you can't contact Amazon or the vendor as they have protected themselves from anything other than a product return. Just for being complete, the listing says that the unit takes two AA batteries that are included. The unit takes two AAA batteries and they were not included even thought they were pictured and mentioned in the listing. Someone at Amazon better start checking the vendors compliance.

Love this product, just what I wanted. Easy to read too HOWEVER, I ordered it in yellow but received it in blue. I didn't want to be bothered sending it back and waiting so I just kept it.

I purchased this finger puslse oximeter to monitor heart rate and blood oxygen levels for a family member. When I placed it on my finger, it worked. I have medium sized fingers and clear unpolished nails. Yet, at times, the graphic display would "flat line' and the heart rate and oxygen level would not display. Yes, it did this even after adjusting it on my finger, in low / no room light conditions, and even after I changed the batteries. I also noticed that it did not appear to shut off automatically after I removed it from its protective case at one time which caused the batteries to drain down.I gave it three stars because 1) I like it's color and the color of the display; 2) it does appear to work properly at times; 3) it was low in cost; 4) you can configure the display to read in different orientations (upside down, right side up, 90 degrees, etc); 5) it came with a nice protective hard shell case; 5) it is hard to open the battery compartment; and 6) because of the problems I previously reported (most weight for rating). UPDATE I compared the accuracy of this unit with a professional pulse oximeter unit used by a cardiologist. The devices were placed on adjacent fingers and the readings compared. This device and the professional device measured the same for pulse and within 1% on the oxygen saturation level (one read 97%, the other 98%). The difference in the saturation levels may have been due to different finger thicknesses.

I bought two OLED Finger Pulse Oximeters:$55 Santamedical SM-240 from Oximeter Superstore - I gave it 3 stars $22 SFO Medical RMO from EVA MEDICAL GROUPS LLC - I gave it 5 stars Conclusion: SFO wins on all counts. They have similar instruction sheets (and thus maybe the same manufacturer of the electronics). Similar display. Only SFO came with a zippered case. SFO also has a very nice blue silicone slip-on shell. SFO battery cover is much easier to open. They always show the same pulse rate. With me at rest the SFO read a steady 98% oxygen; the Santamedical read 98% most of the time but occasionally jumped down to 97, 96, or even 95%. I felt that the steady reading of the SFO better reflected my effort to remain at rest. Another reviewer ("A N") diminished expectations for this type of unit by reminding us that their accuracy is plus or minus 3%. If the bias is constant, I could adapt to that by remembering that one unit always reads low by X. My test shows that either the Santamedical is more sensitive, or the SFO more repeatable. My sense is the latter.

Bought one for my Mom and one for my Son-in-law Doctor. Mom uses it to monitor her heart rate (and oxygen) and my Doctor Son-in-law uses his in his ER calls so he doesn't have to call someone in to give him a pulse rate. Great tool and a good price from Amazon. Recommend it.

I am a medication aide in a nursing home and been using this at work for the last week. I got tired of getting vitals on COPD patients without an O2 Sat. The home had a pulse ox until it disappeared 2 months ago and my boss never replaced it. As it turned out the home got a new pulse ox after a family member complained about her mother's care.I like the OLED display on mine better than the red LED on the house pulse ox. I like the 4-way display and the pulse graph option. The house pulse ox is only a 2-way display with pulse strength. Readings between the two is within 1%. I showed it to a co-worker who is an RN and she liked the design and asked if I could get one for her when I told her the price. She had a pulse ox at her last job, but it grew legs and walked off. I am happy with the purchase. I was going to get a personal pulse ox last year, but didn't want to spend $70 on one. And I didn't care for the red LED display. From what I recall, there were some OLED display units but cost was over $90 at the time. The price of pulse ox has gone down alot in the last year. My SFO Oximeter is blue, not yellow. On the reciept it says the blue is requested (by Amazon). It came with a pouch with velcro flap closure and lanyard. Batteries were included. Shipping in 3 days via USPS free shipping. UPDATE 02/10/2012 Got 2nd order today for my co-workers who asked me to order for them. Did not try it out for functionality, will update if needed. My original purchase is still working good. I have to remember to let the device get to room temperature when I come in from outside, but to be expected. The 3 SpO2 meters I recieved are in yellow instead of the requested blue and came with the deluxe zipper case with padding instead of the simple velcro pouch and no padding. As before, the AAA batteries are included. Would order again if needed.

I have seen many oximeters, but this SFO Medical RMO Finger Pulse Oximeter is the most attractive! It gives an accurate SpO2 (Oxygen Saturation Level) as well as a numeric readout and graphic representation of the pulse on an OLED display--all of it colorfully, brightly lit, readable from all directions. Plus it comes with a free, protective case.
