This is the sixth and penultimate tale in the sequence of Russell Thorndike's seven highly entertaining novels about the Reverend Doctor Syn, the apparently harmless vicar of Dymchurch in Kent who led a secret life as a pirate and smuggler.

Despite the war with France and the Reign of Terror, the Scarecrow's men brave the blockage with the cargoes of run, brandy and silks.
