5.0 out of 5 stars The best I have found for my small ears...
I have tried several and these are the best for me. Very adjustable, lightweight and serve the purpose of providing music while working out! I'm not looking for high quality sound or noise cancellation here.
Great for smaller ears! I have the Sennhiser PMX70 (around the back of the head with the green cord) and they kill after 20 mins. Too big. Ouch.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good sound, average durability
They fit wonderfully while running/working out...etc. Surprised by the quality of the sound. Lightweight. Gives you an option if you need to extend the chord.

What I'm bummed about? About four months into it, plastic cracked around the base screw in the right headphone. Now the fit is slow and I'm constantly adjusting them while I run on the treadmill. I'm...

1.0 out of 5 stars Pathetic Durability, November 19, 2008

This review is from: Nike SHJ036 Flexible Earhook Headphone (White) (Electronics)
6 months after I bought these headphones, the right one went out on me. Now if I wiggle the cord for a while, the sound comes back, but goes away as soon as I let go. Sound quality was average but not great, and the hook over the ears was uncomfortable for long periods as the metal part chafes against the top of the ear. Those issues were tolerable, but I'm really ticked that they broke after 6 months. What's worse, the housing is glued, so there's no easy way to crack the right earbud open to repair the loose wire.

I got my first pair of these, and they stayed on ok- not great, but then after a month one of the ears went dead and was silent. So I bought another pair, and one of the ear sides compeltely loosed up right away and would just fall out of my ear constantly. these are horrible. save your money!

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't be happier, July 31, 2008

I bought these headphones almost a year ago, and I LOVE them and have never had ANY problems. At first, you have to get used to putting them in, but once you get the hang of it, it's second nature. I bought these because earbuds ALWAYS fall out of my ears while I'm running, and when I got the headphones with the speakers outside my ear with the plastic attachment to go behind the ear, they were too bulky and the plastic attachment wasn't flexible. So, these earphones are a mixture of just what I wanted and are perfect. They stay in because you bend the "flexible earhook" all the way behind your ear, and I have never had a problem with them falling out or shifting.

The only problem I could see someone having is that the cord is a little short. I wear my mp3 player up high on my arm, so it's perfect because it reaches with room to spare. They do come with an extension cord, so, if you don't lose that, you should be fine. For an example, in the airplane, the headphones won't reach plugged in to the armrest when i'm leaning back in my seat. SO, if you wear your mp3 player on your shorts or carry it, you may need to use the extension. I haven't recognized any loss in sound quality using the extension.

Only one other hint - when you get them, the comfy felt coverings that go in your ear are not on the speakers (they are not in the picture posted on amazon). Therefore, you have to put them on yourself, and I ripped one of mine a little bit because I wasn't careful. So, if you're going to put them on, be gentle.

2.0 out of 5 stars OK...but not great for jogging..., October 14, 2008
This review is from: Nike SHJ036 Flexible Earhook Headphone (White) (Electronics)
The sound is ok, and I like the short cord so it keeps the cord from dangling when I hook it up to my arm band. It also comes with an extension cord which is also useful. The BIG problem, I bought this hoping that it would work better for jogging than regular earbuds, but I was wrong. Jogging 3-4 miles, it gets annoying having to adjust the hook about 5-6 times. NOT RECOMMENDED FOR JOGGING.

4.0 out of 5 stars Don't Believe The Negativity, March 30, 2010
This review is from: Nike SHJ036 Flexible Earhook Headphone (White) (Electronics)
There are a lot of negative reviews for this pair of headphones; people say they hate the short cord, not good for running, etc. But I am buying my second pair because these are prob the best headphones (for running) I have ever had. I think a lot of people that are having issue are putting the wrong buds in the wrong ear. The cord on each headphone are suppose to face forward not backwards that is about the only way they wont stay in place. I have had an issue all my life running and having the ear buds fall out of my ears I picked up a pair of these and it completely changes everything. I've used this first pair for 6 months now and have nothing but great things to say about these. The sound quality may not be great, but lets face it when I am running I don't need spectacular high and superior lows they sound just fine and help me zone out during a run. People complaining about the short cord can use the extension that comes with the head phones and it will give you a LOT of added length. Just brings the headphones up under your shirt and you won't have to worry about the cord bouncing around. Use the short cord for those who wear their mp3 players high on their arms or have their shuffles clipped to the top of their shirts.

This is a must buy for any runner looking for a pair or great head phones. People buying these expecting Bose quality sound are idiots. These were designed to give you a custom fit around your ear so that they STAY on your ears and that's exactly what they do.

1.0 out of 5 stars Impossible for Running, December 13, 2009
This review is from: Nike SHJ036 Flexible Earhook Headphone (White) (Electronics)
I purchased these as a replacement for the Nike Sport Neckband which despite their short life span, never feel off my ears. The flexible earhook headphones are impossible to wear running. The right earphone fell off 10 times on a quick 3 mile run. Today I managed to use a little duct tape to secure it but it fell off several times. The mechanism that wraps around the ear will not stay firm and the "flexibility" compels it to fall off your ear. The sound quality is ok. It's unfortunate that Phillips didn't test these before launching the product. I would not recommend these headphones for anyone that runs or even walks briskly.

1.0 out of 5 stars Extremely Flexible, but unstable, resulting in poor audio quality, October 17, 2008
This review is from: Nike SHJ036 Flexible Earhook Headphone (White) (Electronics)
The design of these headphones convinced me to buy these because they have several different axis to adjust. Although they have infinitely adjustable angles that work well, unfortunately the ear hooks piece is too flexible & loose. I had to adjust the earpiece each time I put them on and as someone mentioned in another post, they take a while to get them on and feeling good. Even after you have them comfortably hooked on your ear, the speaker portion (on my ear at least) points directly at the space ABOVE my ear canal resulting in poor quality sound, regardless of the volume. If you push and hold them in your ears they sound good, but I got them to wear at the gym. So, in addition to poor fit and sound, their utility at the gym is worthless since they require continuous adjustments to keep them on my ears. After trying them for a month or so, I decided to order SONY over the ears. The SONY types have the speaker positioned to fit into/on top of the ear canal resulting in a snug, comfortable fit and much better sound.

I cannot recommend these headphones to anyone and in fact would give them away with the hesitation that someone would quickly understand why they were free. Sorry Nike, but these headphones are worthless.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Nike SHJ036 Flexible Earhook Headphone (White) (Electronics)
I'm an avid runner, so these get a lot of use, and admittedly more wear during storage (knocked around inside of my gym bag, stuffed into a hoodie pocket, or shoved into a suit case) than most head sets.

An original pair I purchased at Target was more expensive and lasted about 18 months before the cord connecting the left ear bud started to disengage--- an acceptable but not great return on the investment.

The buds fit well, but during really windy runs, air whistles through. The arms adjust in depth and rotate easily to achieve a snug fit and seem to stay set in place.

Perhaps the best, but mostly overlooked feature is the cord extension. Use it for an extra foot or more of cord. Don't, and you have a nice, compact connection with no slack whipping around during your runs.
