Do not listen while driving,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: SHOW ME THE BUFFET (Audio CD)
I should've known better than to listen to this CD while driving. Laughed so hard I could barely keep control. God only knows what that poor state trooper thought as my wife, daughter and I sat in the car roaring with laughter.
This is a great comedy album, not a clinker in the bunch. And it is definately family friendly. I recommend this without any reservations whatsoever. It is money very well spent.

The Most Underrated, Funniest Album of the Year,
This review is from: SHOW ME THE BUFFET (Audio CD)
I first heard and saw Pinette about two years ago on Comedy Central, doing a version of the the Chinese Buffet routine that appears on this album and doubled over. Imagine a routine built entirely around food and weight, not the kind of self-deprication that Louie Anderson used to do, but truly a celebration of the love of food. The Oz Buffet bit is magnificent, in fact there is not a dull moment in the whole album, except for the end, when Big John breaks character and does impressions (the Chipmonks, good, but wrong choice of song, and Elvis, surprisingly good, but both are just out of place). I do have one beef (all puns intended). Pinette seems to feel that he needs to stick in some profanity. He doesn't. He is side-splittingly funny without it. I expect this from Cris Rock and George Carlin. I understand those guys (they do it for different reasons, of course). But, it limits John's audience. This could have been one comedy album that I could have shared with my kids (13, 11 and 9), but now I have to think about it. Should have been a no-brainer.

I have seen John Pinette live and he is much funnier live. He has great facial expression. When I listen to this cd it is so funny cause I can picture him doing those things. It's a great CD Best I've heard in a long time.

Wonderful commedian, great CD,

This CD is simply wonderful. I'm not sure about previous reviews regarding the language but mine is [from] 2000 and doesn't have curses, etc, making this CD suitable for younger audiences. Quite simply put, John Pinette is an astoundingly funny commedian who's humor, even though mostly discussing food topics, does not humiliate himself. The commedy is great, and I die laughing everytime I hear it. I first heard him a few times on Z100's Z-morning Zoo, having to pull over from laughing each and every time, and finally found out his name to get his CD. I wish, I wish that he puts some of the material I heard on the morning show on a new CD (dieting, lettuce cracks, seaweed stuff, personal trainers, etc). Put out a new CD John, I'll certainly buy it! This CD is wonderful though. I'll give you a little more that you don't hear from the clips...imagine it with his accents, etc... "Oh when I hit that water, Oh God! I caused a sounami! People drowned, mothers were grabbing their children. "Where's my baby! Where's my baby!" This is what I'm hearing as I'm crashing to earth!". John, your bits are hilarious and you are a wonderful commedian. I look forward to seeing some live standup and many more CDs to come! I highly recommend this CD!

Love the comedy, but Amazon should label as EDITED!,

This review is from: SHOW ME THE BUFFET (Audio CD)
This is definitely one of the funniest comedy CD's I have listened to. John Pinette brings a laugh a minute with his talk about eating and his love of buffets.
The only problem I have with this CD is that it has obviously been edited (as another has said, certain expletives were removed from the CD). Amazon, in the future, I would recommend you label an edited CD as such.

One of the few great comedians left,

If you have never been to Las Vegas, Disney World, Water Parks, or a large buffet, you will not get the jokes, but if you have, this album is hillarious. I am embarassed to say I have listened to this CD about 20 times all of the way through and am not planning on stopping soon. It never looses its charm and ability to put you in a good mood. I was getting tired of John's old Chinese buffet material, but that is a small portion of this CD. Let's hope John stays healthy and does not go the way of Chris Farley and John Candy.Remember, stay at the salad end of the buffet! "I can eat $2.49 worth of toast!" "The house has lost its advantage!"

Show Me The Buffet!,

Great stuff. His self depricating humor based on his weight is absolutely hysterical. At this point I'm suprised that my CD has any grooves left in it, because I listen to it beginning to end all the time. It never gets old, because his brand of humor is timeless. The material is very intelligent and well thought out, and again, will always be relevant. This CD is worth every penny if you like great comedy. Truely a must buy for any comedy collection.

The Funniest Fat Guy in Comedy Today,

I hope he lasts a little longer than John Candy, Chris Farrel, John Belushie, etc. The man is extrememly funny and this CD is a great place to start, for those both familiar and unfimiliar with his act. Fat guy at Disneyworld is priceless. The buffet bits are equally good. Whether the setting is a Chinese restaurant, Indian, or Vegas, he hits the material with just the right timing and touch. Save Wiwwy!!BK

I first heard John in my car on XM Radio and nearly drove off the road! I searched the web for a CD and found "Show me the Buffet". This CD is proof that if the material is funny there is no need to be vulgar to get a laugh. I really enjoy listening to it over and over with my children. We listened to the CD at a scout campout with a group of 5th graders and it was the big event of the whole weekend. I plan to buy several of these CDs as gifts for the holidays. I highly recommend it to everyone.
