This product works extremely well, using these tips below, you will give it a 5 star too.
The keys to getting this product to work well are this:
1) Load paint correctly
2) Keep the guide clean
3) Lead in.
4) Pressure and speed
1) Tilt your roller tray to have an even coat of paint on the tray. Retract guide. Dip pad into paint and let it set for 3 seconds. Gently scrape excess of the pad using the edge of the tray. This is critical. It will take a few tries, but you can't leave too much or too little paint on the pad. Practice makes perfect.
2) Keep a damp paper towel or wash cloth handy. Keep wiping down any time you see paint seeping on the black guides. You may see paint on the red tab between the black guides, but generally this doesn't transfer to the wall.
3) Lead in - For instance, if you are at the ceiling, start 4" below and slowly angle towards the ceiling then start moving with the guides pressed up against the ceiling. This slow transition evens out the paint and helps prevent excess paint from going over the guides.
4) Pressure and speed are key!!! Too much pressure, paint oozes out in front of the guides. Too little speed, and paint oozes out in front of the guides. Start with less paint, and work your way up to more paint. Find the optimum speed and pressure, and keep repeating for a perfect line every time!
More tips...
A. Some folks prefer using a paint brush to load the edger. Dip your paint brush in the can then paint the right amount of paint on the pad.
B. Load, up near the guide and leave the rest with little or no paint.
C. put the paint pad on backwards, and it makes a great free hand edging tool for those popcorn ceilings!
Good luck!
