This product quickly, easily gets 99% of remaining liquid out of a paint-brush or roller. (I have only tried it with latex paints.). It works so well with brushes, but I'm going to describe how incredibly well it works with rollers.

For years, I've spent about 15 minutes with running water, trying to get a 3/8" or 1/2" nap roller clean, and then tried in vain to squeeze the water out by hand. Then the roller sits on end, on a stack of newspapers, and continues to drip. If I was very thorough, the roller would dry, clean, in about 36 hours. However, the more typical case is that the lowest 1/4" of the roller would get the residual paint particles, and would be hardened. After a few days, this section would be permanently hardened.

No more ! I spend 5 minutes with a hose, getting most of the paint out. Then, outside, I spin it for 10 seconds, and 90% of the paint that's left flies off onto the ground. Then another minute or less under a hose. And a final 10-second spin gets the clean water out. (I choose to spin twice, with a short rinse in between, to use less water.) And the roller is so dry that you can use it right now, or put it in storage and not worry about it.

Working with a paint brush is similar, but takes less time. Just like a roller, if you can't get the water out of a brush, the remaining paint particles will dry into the brush, and you may never get them out. I've been propping brushes up vertically, bristles up, and letting them drip-dry back toward the handle. Needless to say, the bristles closest to the handle get progressively harder with each use. No more !

I am recommending, without reservation, this item to everyone I know who has tried to wash out a brush or roller.

Until I purchased this item I tried to shake and hand-spin my brushes and rollers only to leave a lot of water, mineral spirits and residue on them. The Shur-Line is simple yet extremely effective in removing such from the brush/roller. The only minor complaint is that it is a little difficult to insert a larger handle brush into the holder mechanism...but by no means impossible. You simply insert the brush into a spring-like receptacle and pump a handle much like you would do for the old spinning toy called a "spinning top." Rollers fit over the outside frame and spin the same way. It is a simple yet amazingly effective tool.

Needing to paint, I bought brushes, rollers, this brush and roller cleaner, and yes paint. I got the better brand of brushes and so I wanted to take care of them because I am sure that this will not be my last painting. Of course you wash/rinse the brushes after their use and then you need to dry or remove the water so they are good to use the next time. This is where this product comes in, it will spin the brush or roller until almost dry. Great product.

I've used this primarily to remove Latex paint from brushes, with very good effect.

I've found it works best if I have time to let the brush soak in water. I let mine sit in a "Handy Paint Pail" (with a liner for cleaning), which keeps the bristles from resting on the bottom. Much of the latex will float to the bottom.

Putting the brush in the spinner can be a bit tight, and I've pinched my skin before (not too bad). Make sure the brush is well centered, as this greatly effects the spinning action. While pumping up and down works, I've found it works much better to simply make a quick downward push, and let it complete it's spin. It's much more powerful...you'll see the bristles really separate.

I used to dread cleaning up the brushes and rollers after painting. The dread was so great that I bought the cheapest brushes and rollers possible and threw them away after one use. My finished paint jobs looked cheap too. With this tool, I now buy the best brushes and rollers, cleaning them not only at the end but along the way too because it is so easy and quick. The best brushes and rollers last much longer when cleaned often and as thoroughly as this tool allows you to clean them. I save a lot money, time and have much better looking painting results. Be sure to put a couple of drops of oil where indicated after use.

This tool will make painting roller covers and paint brush clean up and drying time quick fast and easy. Just pump the handle and all the water is slung out and in a few minutes the brush or roller cover is dry and ready to use again. I gave it a 5 star rating.

A friend loaned me this brush/roller cleaner and I had to have one. When paint starts to dry on the outer bristles of your brush it makes cleanup a nightmare. But cleaning a brush also means waiting a day for it to dry out to reuse it. Not with this tool. I could clean my brush and then dry it out with this "spinner" and I was back to painting. Cleanup of my expensive Purdee brushes was a breeze. No more wire brush cleaning/ and damaging of my good brushes. The brush/roller cleaner does not work with wennie rollers. I'm thinking that a wood dowel might work with the wennie rollers. Regardless, the effectiveness and low cost make this a MUST HAVE tool.

NOW, THIS IS A GREAT TOOL. WELL DESIGNED AND CONSTRUCTED. VERY VERSATILE. CLEANS BOTH MY PAINT BRUSHES AND ROLLERS. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR THE PROFESSIONAL AND HOME OWNER PAINTERS OUT THERE. A MUST FOR THE PAINTERS TOOL BOX.

How did I clean brushes and rollers all these years without this? I would hand-wring rollers repeatedly and hope that no stray remnants of paint would discolor the next the job I did. But with this, you soak it with water (or mineral spirits or whatever cleaner is appropriate for the finish used) and spin it in a deep sink or buckets a few times, refreshing it with more cleaner each time. Each spin gets out much more than doing it by hand, and much less cleaner is used--to say nothing of the time saved.

This a basic tool that anyone who paints more than once should have. It grips brushes very well, too, and simplifies cleaning them as well as rollers. A great gift for the handy-person who doesn't have one!

This spinner made my cleanup process MUCH faster. I hate washing rollers, and I was able to get virtually all of the paint out in about 1/3 of the time.
