Book Description

Introduce your child to the world of sight words with the help of our Dolch Sight Words Flash Cards!

This book is the first part of “Sight Words Series” based on The Dolch Word List. The crucial goal of the whole series is to teach a young reader a set of 220 words that are used very frequently (sight words make up 50 to 70 percent of any general text). Being able to quickly recognize these basic, common sight words is a wonderful way to achieve reading fluency.

The book may serve as a wonderful study aid both for children before or after kindergarten. You can also use it as a practice tool.

This book is divided into three parts:

• 40 flashcards with new sight words
• 30 practice flashcards with two-word combinations with beautiful illustrations
• 30 practice flashcards with three-word combinations with beautiful illustrations

This book is so much fun! I love the illustrations and the flashcards as well. It starts with one word / flashcard and reaches up to three- word combination flashcards. My nieces loved them and now actually practice what they learnt. Brilliant!

5.0 out of 5 stars Delightful Pictures And Fun While Learning To Read June 10, 2013
By Lise
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a delightful book - full of color and fun for little ones. I'm very familiar with the list as an educational therapist, but I've never seen the list
put together in such a fun way. By the time your little one gets to the 3 word combinations, he or she is reading short sentences! The pictures are entertaining to both young and old as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Terrific Reading Aid! June 9, 2013
By AnnT
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I bought this book because my Grandson is 5 and has just started school. I want to be able to help him become more proficient with his words and a book like this is terrific! I really like the cute illustrations that go alongside many of the words - particularly the two and three word phrases. I haven't gone through the book with Jack yet, but I'm sure the illustrations will help him recognize the words - a fun learning tool!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Tool to Help Young Readers June 8, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I had not heard of this Dolch system before but can see the philosophy behind it, especially with the two and three-word combinations. From what I can see, the single words add a lot of new sight words for the young reader and the combinations are more on a conceptual basis. Both very good methods to help young readers.

The cover is beautiful and the illustrations are very appealing. This book/flashcard system (and series) would be a great addition to any child's library and aid them greatly in their reading improvement efforts.
