I haven't had any issues with it connecting an external hard drive to the DirecTV HD DVR. The extra length (compared to the cable that came with the drive) is helpful.

I have many different ESata wires and this is one of the best. Not flimsy like most others and long enough to be useful. You won't find anything better for the price.

Works - not much you can say about a cable. I have having problems with my DVR and needed a new cable to test if the drive or the cable was the problem. This cable worked where another slightly cheaper cable failed with weird playback hicups.

This product functioned well without any problems with my Western Digital Studio Edition II 2TB storage device.

I ordered this particular cable because I had heard that SIIG was a reputable cable manufacturer. Unfortunately, when I attempted to connect my Asus P5B Deluxe motherboard to my new Fantom GreenDrive 1TB, I couldn't communicate with the device. A Dynex cable from Best Buy (mid-range build quality at a very high price point) that I purchased to troubleshoot was able to connect the same two devices without any issues.

I ordered 2 of these, and the first one works fine, delivering appropriate transfer rates.

The second is either a defect or result of a poorly designed product, at the very least indicitive of a lack of Quality Control at the factory.

These come with a rubber cover that goes on the end of the connector, and when the cable is placed in service the protective covers must be removed.

On my second cable, the force required to pull off the cover, also separated the outer jacket from the connector, including the braided shielding inside which is there to provide chassis ground and subsequent EMI protection. This braided shield is clearly paper thin, now that it's become visible.

It wasn't that the cover was on the connector tightly, no worse than the same type of cover one might find on a DVI or VGA connector. It's rather that the jacket apparently wasn't secured inside the connector's cowling where the joint is made.

I only write this review to make people aware that at least in my case, this item has a 50% failure rate.

The product was as described and arrived promptly. I didn't need to use it as it turned out but I am sure I will use it in the future. I would certainly shop with this vendor again.
