Very fast and efficient.

The USB 3 speeds are excellent and the cord that comes with it is more than long enough for most computer configurations.

Then it broke while I was pulling out a card.

I am a photographer and this is a great device for "quickly" copying by pics up to my laptop. I haven't timed it exactly but the transfer rate is as fast as I have ever used. 10GB in about 10 minutes - or pretty close.

No complaints with this card reader at all until I ungraded to OS X Mavericks. Afterwards, cards are recognized, but as soon as transfer is initiated the system reports an unexpected removal of the media. After some research, it appears several card reader manufacturers needed to update their firmware (sandisk and others). However, there is no update on SIIG's website. Therefore, if you are running OS X I recommend selecting a different brand that works with Mac.

1/20/14 Update

While SIIG has not released a firmware update that resolves the issue, you can use Sandisk's USB 3.0 3-in-1 Card Reader's firmware update for this reader and it will resolve the issue. What I have discovered is SIIG, Kingston and Sandisk all use the same hardware and just label them different externally. Sandisk has the latest firmware and it completely resolves the device. Therefore, I'm changing to 4 stars. -1 star for lack of SIIG updates.

For the MAC folks out there, avoid Mavericks if you can. Hate it. a POS worse than anything Microsoft has ever released.

Got this and it didn't work right out of the package. After some checking, found out that the cable sent with it was defective (worked with another cable I already have, but you have to physically hold the SD card in the slot real tightly to make it work. If you aren't squeezing real tight to hold the card in, it won't work. So between the bad cable and the poor quality, 1 star (but I would give zero stars if i could)

Great card reader! Explorer is reporting a transfer speed of 80-92MB/sec. It is connected to the Gigabyte Z68AP-D3 motherboard's USB3 port and running Windows 7 x64 with i5-2500K overclocked to 4.8GHz with 16GB DDR3-1600 (the latter probably doesn't affect the speed) Canon 7D RAW files were transferred to an OLD internal 250GB harddrive that I had installed as a test for stability (not the latest or SSD - which I will install later) Highly recommended.

It arrived yesterday. It's light, small, and looks elegant. USB 3.0 is ridiculously fast. I use it do download video's from my my SD cards and audio from CF cards and it's much faster (as expected) then the build in 2.0 ports on my machine.

It works in windows OK, but does not work with MAC OS at all. i also bought "Lexar Multi-Card 25-In-1 USB 3.0 Reader" It was a better value as it works with everything i.e. windows mac and others

The reviews for this were good and the others all had complaints. so i paid extra and got this. i really only need it for microsd cards. the microsd card i bought came with an adapter for sd card, which i am using together so i can read two microsd cards at once. and i just paid $2.99 for Link Depot Micro SD to xD Flash Memory Adapter (LD-MSD-XD) so that i can use the picture card slot for another microSD card. And i may also get Link Depot Micro SD to MS Pro Duo Flash Memory Adapter (LD-2MSD-MS) even though its $6.99 for the fourth assigned drive.

My laptop running vista only has usb 2.0, but i got good speeds. around 10 MB/sec writing to the slow microsds and around 40 MB/sec writing to the extreme microsd.

The adapter connects with no problem or installation concerns, and assigns four more drive letters, whether the slots are filled or not.

My old compact flash card did not fit into the slot. it is from an old canon camera. i hear there are two types of compact flash cards, and my old one is the thicker one.

seems to be a good product.
Recommended.

I've been using this card reader for a few weeks. It installed automatically on Windows 7, and was able to max out the transfer rates on my UDMA cards 70+ MB/s. The build quaility is better than some other card readers I've used and I expect it to last a long time. It also does come with a nice 3 or 4ft usb cable, so you don't need to buy one. So far I'm very happy.
