Simon Flash
Four SIMON games in one! View larger.

Featuring four brainteaser games to challenge your child's memory, speed, and logic, Hasbro's Simon Flash is a high-tech twist on the legendary Simon game. Four electronic cubes utilize light, sound, and changing colors to keep your child having fun and learning new skills during each game. Revolutionary Wonder-Link technology allows each cube to know where you've placed it, when you win a round, and keeps track of the score.

Four Games in One

Ranging from 90 seconds to more than two minutes, Simon Flash contains four quick-fire games in one package: Simon Lights Off, Simon Shuffle, Simon Secret Color, and Simon Classic. Each game is associated with a colored cube (red, yellow, blue, or green) and can be started by pressing the cube that bears that color. Each game stimulates learning through challenging the player's memory, speed, and logic.

With Simon Shuffle, you solve each puzzle by lining up the colors in the original order displayed. In Simon Lights Off, you have to solve each puzzle by lining up the cubes in the correct order so that all the lights turn off. In Simon Secret Color, you solve the puzzle by figuring out the order to place the cubes in. As you get them in the right place, each cube turns to show the same color. The fourth game, Simon Classic, is the classic Simon game where you correctly repeat an increasing sequence of colors.

Carrying Case, Easy On/Off and Mute Options

The cubes come with a portable carrying case for on-the-go play, ideal for a car trip with the family. A quick-play card lets you begin any game with minimal instruction. Easily mute sound, turn off cubes, or switch to a different game with the press of a button. For added convenience, the cubes automatically power down after three minutes of nonuse to save battery life.

While Simon Flash is recommended for children eight and older, our testers found that some games are appropriate for younger children, and that some games were more challenging than others. In addition, the scoring system, comprised of cubes flashing multiple times to indicate points won, can be confusing.

Note: although the game indicates it can be played competitively with others, most games cannot be played simultaneously by two players. Competition between players requires each player to take a turn and then compare scores.

What's in the Box

Four electronic cubes, game case, rules, eight AAA batteries, and quick-play card.

The game is fun and we enjoyed playing.

The game was on when I opened my box since it was not in any other packaging and it turns on with a push of any of its buttons.

It's fun, a ,little confusing to figure out, but I find the kids seem to understand these games more quickly than I do.

We love the old Simon game and this is just a twist on that. This has become one of our favorite games to take on vacation with us in the car. It is small and easily packable. If you love playing the original Simon, this will not disappoint, as you can still play the original Simon with these cubes. However, you get three additional games as well.

1) Simon Shuffle - You have to solve each puzzle by lining up the colors in their original order.
2) Simon Lights Off - You have to solve each puzzle by lining up the cubes in the correct order. Once you have them lined up, all the lights turn off.
3) Simon Secret Color - Solve the puzzle by figuring out the order to place the cubes in. As you get them in the right place, the color turns to show the same color. This one is our favorite because just when you think you have the color figured out it can get tricky because you may get two blues and two yellows and then you have to figure out which color is really the one you to have to solve for. Lots of fun.

My only reason for rating it a four star is because I think the price point is a bit steep. I probably would not have purchased this at the $25 price. I think a better price point would have been around $15. However, we have enjoyed playing it.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
Upon receipt we played for a couple of hours, both of my grandson's immediately feel in love. I remember playing the classic round Simon game when I was younger, you and your children will both enjoy this game. There are four different games, one game for each color. The only downside found is the fact that it requires 8 AAA batteries, while the batteries are included, depending on length of use by your family may require rechargeable batteries. The green is the classic game, red is simon shuffle, yellow is lights off and the blue game which is secret color. An added feature that all parents may enjoy is the mute, you can mute the sound if needed. The game is fun and we enjoyed playing. I would recommend to others and unlike most board games this game packs away easily due to the size.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
We played this for at least an hour the first time we took it out of the box. My son (who really is younger than the recommended age) beat us miserably. We laughed the whole time as he tried to keep up.

I loved that there were enough modes of play to keep it interesting. It took a few minutes to figure out each game, but once we had it we had a blast! I'm concerned about how many batteries it takes, but I'm sure we'll take care of that when the time comes. I don't foresee it running out soon since we don't play games very often.

The price is high enough that I would not purchase this in a store. I was lucky enough to get a game from Amazon Vine to test and review and that's pretty much the only way I'd get it. Also, it was a major pain to get out of the box. There was a ton of packaging and most of it seemed unnecessary.

My techie husband thought it was really cool how the blocks worked together. My son just thought it was fun. He has a bit of trouble paying attention and this forced him to and that was great! The only thing is that we can't figure out how to stop a game and start a different one.

Two days later - We went to play it again today and it isn't working. The cubes will turn on but it won't let me select a game to play.

I received a game from Amazon Vine for the purpose of a review. No additional compensation has been received and I was not required to write a positive review.

If you enjoyed playing the classic round Simon game, you should enjoy this game also. There are four different games, one game for each color. Unfortunately, there is no difficulty setting like the classic game. The red, yellow, and green games are all easy. The blue game is really the only challenging game. This could be considered a good thing because if the games were too dificult kids could become frusturated quickly. When you are moving the cubes around you have make sure they are properly alligned. If they are off a little bit, your move will not be registered until you have them alligned in straight matter.

My other corcern is the fact that the game requires 8 AAA batteries. Yes the batteries are included but if the games eats through batteries it could become expensive quickly if you are not using rechargeable batteries. I currently do not know the battery life.

As far as the games go, the green plays like the classic game. You need to press the colors in the sequence that they come up. Not much of a challenge but of the 4 games, I would say this is the 3rd hardest.

The red game is the simon shuffle, which you need to reallign the four color based on the sequence presented to you. The key to this game is to only watch the first three colors that come up. This is the easiest of the 4 games.

The yellow game is lights off. You need to allign the blocks until all four color blocks go off. The key to this game is to move the blocks in groups of two and you will quickly solve the puzzle. This is the 2nd easiest of the 4 games

Finally the blue game. Simon secret color. You need to allign the blocks in the correct sequence to get them to match the same color. You have 2 minutes to have all four blocks the same color.
