This dress form is very convenient. The multiple dials give you a lot of control in getting the right measurements, and the fabric-covered surface lets you pin materials to the form.

However, there is one major drawback. You can't use the form to create tight-fitting tops or dresses, because the chest shape is not true to life! In real life, breast width transitions gradually from top to bottom, but at the bottom it cuts sharply in where the breast ends and the rib cage begins (under the cup). On this dress form though, the breasts thin out gradually on the underside as well, making the ribcage in that area disproportionately wide. With the waist and breast measurements set exactly to my own, it is *impossible* to even put my bra on the form!

It would be great for loose shirts and dresses, but keep in mind that the chest area is messed up.

I have longed for a dress form for years but found them too expensive. I purchased this one because it was so reasonably priced and because I had a formal gown to make for a big event. Everything was/worked as advertised. I could easily pin to it and adjust it. However, this was a form fitting gown (and I am losing weight) so I bought the small, adjusted it out as far as I could and then put a slip type "Flexee" that was my current size over it and stuffed the Flexee with polyester stuffing to my exact measurements. This smoothed out the gaps created when you adjust it and I can still use it when I get down to my goal weight. You could use a leotard as well I would think. Anyway, I love it, it came on time, easy to put together and made the whole process of putting a difficult dress together so much easier and it fit like a custom made dress should once it was done.

I don't know why so many people are complaining. I got this item and find that it works for its purpose. Its lightweight and easy to move around. The setting make it easy to adjust to my measurements. Its well worth the money and I'm not a novice at design and sewing, been doing it for 25 years. Its a good deal. I read that a few women have complained about the bust. This is not a custom dress form. You can put your own bra on it, and then stuff it so it matches your chest size and look. Simple solutions!

I am giving this 3 stars due to my first reaction to the item when it came and some frustrations at setting it up, and so that you might manage any frustrations that you might have and give her a chance before you decide that you don't like her. She has been here with me for a couple of days, and it's a five star item for its usefulness and price to me today. When I first took her out of the box, I was expecting her to be flimsy as I had read the reviews before purchasing the item. She wasn't so bad. The instructions are poor so it's a good thing she is easily put together. Before you put the 4 stabilizing legs on, pull off the bottom and put on the hem guide or you will have to take her apart and do it later. I put her together and put her in my sewing room. She looked very tiny and I thought I was unhappy with her. I thought I might return her.

I took a breath and went in to adjust her to roughly my size. At first, I got very frustrated as she didn't seem to really adjust to the sizes stated. There are no good instructions for adjusting her included. Mostly, it is easy to figure out, except the neck adjustment. So, here is my experience: Start at the neck. push down and turn the dial to the right - start with at least a couple of 'notches', then to the bust, adjust all 4 (don't try to get her perfect yet), adjust her to your measurement on all four dials (front, back and two sides). Move to the next four dials and key to your waist size, the next four and key to your hip size. Go back up and measure her bust, if the bust size is not equal to the measurement on the dials, adjust move the neck dial to the right or left (left smaller/right bigger). She has body length adjustments, but I didn't need them.

Amazon seems to have combined the review of the medium and large at some point because I see the product is now labeled as LARGE and at least one other person clearly reviewed the medium. I would still make sure you check the measurements on this item carefully. I would say the medium I have could stretch to fit a 16 or 18 so just make sure it contracts and expands the way you need it too. If they don't give that info here you may want to check the manufacturers website.

My Original Review: "The medium I bought was to use as a form to create a Mardi Gras costume. When I ordered it I chose this model mostly because of the better reviews. People didn't seem as pleased with the smaller version. I also assumed that since I wore a medium, a medium would be a good size to choose. I wear a 10-12 in clothing size.

Now that I have it, I wish I would have gotten a small. The 30 inch waist is not small enough and while I could have easily added some padding to the small, there is no way to subtract from the medium. You may want to spend a little time looking at all the measurements on the small form vs. the medium and see which allows the most latitude in adjustment for your particular body style."
