5.0 out of 5 stars VERY PLEASED
I've had this machine for over a year and have found nothing bad to say about it. I'm an avid quilter and have turned out many beautiful projects with this machine in the past year. I use this machine everyday and have had no problems with it that weren't associated with user error. I've recently upgraded to another machine with more stitches and functions and it's a...

1.0 out of 5 stars this machine [isn't good]
I thought I could trust a Singer. WRONG. I spend more time trying to unjam the machine then I spend actually sewing. There's always something wrong with it.

I grew up sewing on my mom's ancient singer (one of those cute little black machines that only goes forward). That thing is probably 60 or 70 years old and still sews like a dream. I wish my mom would trade...

I use this machine everyday and have had no problems with it that weren't associated with user error. I've recently upgraded to another machine with more stitches and functions and it's a Singer too! I've researched other higher priced machines and have found that Singer is well worth the money. Even though I have a new one I'll still be keeping this one to use. I'm very pleased with Singer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Singer 32 Stitch sewing Machine, August 17, 2003

I am a forty three year old woman who is new to sewing. My machine is wonderful. I approached this as a new person would, taking time to read the instructions because I had to learn how to use all of the functions. My machine works like a charm. It doesn't even make a lot of noise. The instruction book is well thought out and easy to follow. I would advise any new sewer to purchase this machine. In my estimation, the Singer name is still a good one. I plan to do all sorts of home decorating projects and I think this machine will be able to stand up to them.

5.0 out of 5 stars A workhorse, April 26, 2004

I got this machine about a year ago & I love it. It sews anything I try to feed it. I don't do a lot of light fabrics like laces and chiffon but anything from light cotton to mending my husbands work overalls just is not a problem with this Singer machine. I hope to start more actual sewing and I think this machine will do fine for now. If I outgrow it though you better believe I am going to go back to a Singer.

I have an older model of this machine. I have NEVER had to service it in the 14 yrs I have had it. It still sews wonderfully. For the lady with the loopy thread you need to adjust your bobbin tension. I highly recommend this machine. I have made costumes, quilts, dresses, curtains and much more with mine.

i really liked this machine until my needle clamp went awol during a move. since this is a mass-marketed low-end machine, singer does not market replacement parts for it, and nobody's willing to help. my local sewing store has a lot of machines lying around for parts; that's my only hope at this point. caveat emptor.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for Beginners, September 21, 2005

This is the first sewing machine that I have ever used.I decided to purchase this machine after comparing prices, features and reading reviews.I took my time and read the instruction booklet that came with it.There have been times that I have been frustrated cause the thread breaks, the stitches get stuck under the bobbin, the thread bundles up, I incorrectly wound up the bobbin.Gosh, it sure takes patience to get familiar with the machine especially if one has never used one. After trials and errors I learned that its important to read each and every word and follow all the steps in the book and use the right foot, stitch width, tension, etc...All I can say for those that are having difficulty please read and reread all of the information in the book and have patience...I have mended pants, made a blanket, taken in seams.Buying this machine has been a good choice its sturdy and stitches well. Its better than what I expected after being told by my mother that a newer Singer Machine does not compare to the old ones that are over 30 years old. My mother refuses to buy an electric machine but I'm hoping to convince her to get one like mine.

I got this machine for my birthday. It works great. I have'nt had a single problem at all, I've made a quilt and some puppets and some stuffed animals. It handled several layers of denim great too. It's a workhorse!

I currently am borrowing this exact singer from a friend and I love it. It's a solid machine that has stood the test of time. My friend has had hers for 9 years. She has three kids and I have five and between us we have made everything from halloween coustumes to quilts. It's perfect for our needs. I likes hers so much that I am waiting for this model to go on sale so I can have my own.
