5.0 out of 5 stars Great machine!
I just got this machine a week ago as an early Christmas gift from my hubby. I didn't purchase it from Amazon, because we found a Thanksgiving-week deal at Jo-Ann fabrics, so I picked it up there for about $200.

1.0 out of 5 stars Major Disappointment
I purchased this product thru Amazon, since my local retailers carry only the low end sewing machines, which didn't seem to fare well in the product reviews I found online. Previously, I had been using a Singer Touch and Sew Model 775 purchased over 30 years ago and it has seen a lot of duty. There are also no repair centers close by, so when my old machine developed...

I just got this machine a week ago as an early Christmas gift from my hubby. I didn't purchase it from Amazon, because we found a Thanksgiving-week deal at Jo-Ann fabrics, so I picked it up there for about $200.

I am very happy with this machine. It has 66 stitch functions (search google for an image "list" of these, like I did), 3 buttonhole options, and a twin-needle option. I have used about 10 of the decorative stitches already, and I'm incredibly impressed with how well the machine handles them.

This machine is quiet enough that I can have a conversation with my husband while he's 15 feet away, all without either of us raising our voices. It has a smooth feed and doesn't shake (like my last machine did, even in tip-top shape!). It is sleek-looking and it doesn't weigh much, so I can carry it without feeling as though my arm is going to break off.

The reverse stitch is easy to use (the button is right by the needle, so you can hold it as you are feeding the fabric). Bobbins are simple to wind on this machine, and it even has a self-threading needle, but I prefer to thread by hand. I've had no problems here, it works beautifully, but I kind of think it's over-kill as I have no problems with threading my needle. However, I can see how this option may be very helpful to people with unsteady hands.

It's computerized, so it adjusts the thread tension automatically, which is one of the big reasons I was interested in a newer Singer model. With past sewing machines, I've had trouble with thread tension despite constant fidgeting and following the manual's explicit instructions.

Oh, and the bobbin! It's got a drop-in system, which makes it so much easier to thread. No more taking pieces out of my machine to put the bobbin back in! I LOVE THIS MACHINE!

But seriously, I love this machine. I have only had it for a week or so, but I have done a LOT of sewing (Christmas gifts!) and I am in looooooove with this machine. I am absolutely 100% satisfied, and you probably will be too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Impressed & satisfied! 5 STARS., May 22, 2010

My story:
It was coming down the last couple weeks of school (Fashion Design Major) and I had 4 garments to finish and out of the blue my sewing machine broke! What was a girl with a deadline to do? Come on Amazon.com of course! Whenever I need a review I always come on here so I hunted down this here Singer Confidence. I have previously seen this on the Martha Stewart show and thought yeah.. probably too good to be true but nope! All the reviews on here gave me the green light to purchase it in a local fabric store and I couldn't have been happier about it!
This machine is incredible. I've sewed on industrial sewing machines and thought nothing could come close to the feel and smoothness that industrials have but this has proved my lil sewing heart wrong!
Once I took it out of the box I whipped out a slab of muslin to test out all the different stitches! They were all beautiful, easy easy easy to do and wow I really love the back-tack button! The buttonhole/buttons feature is really great and simple to use. I love how quick and easy winding/changing the bobbin is. I have nothing but great things to say about this machine! No cons whatsoever!
The main thing that is a highlight for me is that I was able to open this up and use it instantly without having to read the entire manual. I wound my bobbin, set my stitching length and off I went! It was such a relief to have done that because I had absolutely no time to waste!
I genuinely feel like anyone, extremely beginner or exceptionally advanced would LOVE this machine because bottom line it is an absolute dream to use. Very simple, great quality, great PRICE!, wonderful instructions if you need them, easy easy easy! easy! Just had to throw that last easy in there for good measure! :)
So long story short, I finished all my dresses for my final for school without any problems whatsoever. *Shimmy shakes*
So if you need a sewing machine that promises quality and truly give you confidence, this is the way to go.
Happy sewing!!!!!

It works great NOW. I purchased this machine last month and had similar issues with the straight stitching. I had changed the foot from the original one that was on it. I had never seen a closed foot like that before so I put on the one I was familiar with that came with the accessories. I tried everything to get the stitches right, including changing the machine's needle, increasing the tension, decreasing the tension, and rethreading the machine. When I was just about to give up and throw it out the window, I put the original foot back on. That did the trick! It works fine now, and I have used stitches I've never used before, like the scallop stitch to decoratively hem a sundress and the overcast seam stitch which looks professional! I have been sewing on Singer machines for 42 years and was very hesitant to purchase one of these "new fangled" computerized models. Lots of plastic, but lots of fun! I'm enjoying playing with all the stitches! I will never give up my 30 year old machine and since I started giving sewing lessons to my daughter and her friend, now they can sew together. I would definitely recommend this machine - great price for great quality.

I purchased this product thru Amazon, since my local retailers carry only the low end sewing machines, which didn't seem to fare well in the product reviews I found online. Previously, I had been using a Singer Touch and Sew Model 775 purchased over 30 years ago and it has seen a lot of duty. There are also no repair centers close by, so when my old machine developed multiple problems, I decided to buy a basic machine that could straight sew, zigzag, and make easy buttonholes - but not the bottom of the line machines. I couldn't find a lot of reviews on the model 7467, but the ones I did find were positive, so this seemed like a good fit eventhough I wasn't interested in all the fancy stitches. Unfornately, the machine performed well only on zigzag - the straight stitch was horrible. I tried various needles, threads, and tension settings, but once I had tried sewing a little heavier weight fabric, I couldn't get a quality straight stitch regardless of the adjustments. I returned the machine to the vendor, who promptly refunded my money - but it was a $55 expense with return shipping, insurance and restocking. I know they don't make them like they used to, but this machine was a piece of junk. The vendor said this is the first complaint he had on this model, so maybe mine was just a lemon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, September 5, 2010

This is an excellent machine. I had a Brother for about 20 years which served me well, but it was time for a new one. This machine is easy to use, has a great selection of stitches and gives a perfect seam every time. I have to keep the manual next to me though for the stitch guide. I am currently sewing a Halloween costume and this machine is making quick time of it. Great value for the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME machine!!!, February 5, 2011
This review is from: SINGER 7467 Confidence Sewing Machine (Kitchen)
Received the Singer Confidence 7467 and put it through its paces immediately. Sewed beautifully straight out of the box. No need to adjust anything. Lovely selection of stitches, easy to wind bobbin, easy lay-in threading, and most of all....super easy to understand! It may be a very "plain" looking machine (doesn't have a lot of buttons like other machines) but that's how this machine capitalizes on simplicity because a new user is not going to be overwhelmed. BUT.....just because it doesn't have gobs of complex, eye-popping buttons, don't let that fool you! It has 70 stitches...Read full review available! There's a little pull out chart (right hand bottom of the machine) that lists all the available stitches and the numbers to input into the machine to access them! And the machine has automatic tensions, stitch widths and lengths programmed in. Of course, you can make any adjustments that you like to them, but it's nice to know that you don't have to (another nice feature for new sewists!) I purchased this as a gift for my daughter-in-law for her birthday and I know it is perfect for her. I own top of the line European sewing machines, and after testing this machine out, I have to say that I am indeed impressed with it. For the money, it is a lot of machine!

I can't speak for the maintenance or longevity of this machine yet as I've only had it a couple of months, but I do like it. I love the bobbin winding and threading and the instruction manual is clear. That's a big plus for someone re-learning on their own!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sew and Sew, June 26, 2011

Though I miss the old styling of Singer machines, I am satisfied with the operation and ease of model 7467. Sewing backwards is limited to a lock stitch or two. It's not quite as easy to thread. I haven't tried the needle threader yet. I wish the bobbin could be rewound while in the bobbin case, but winding a bobbin is very easy. I do appreciate the aluminum body, as it's not as heavy as my heavy-metal former one, but wish it could be installed in a cabinet...no provision for that.

I love this sewing machine! I have made a dress for my granddaughter, a couch cover, and shopping bags so far. As long as you use high quality thread, the right needles and presser feet, and remember to lengthen the stitch length when sewing zippers onto very light fabric you will have no problems.

I hadn't sewn in many years, the machine I had was a singer but I had to fight it with it every time I used it. I ordered it and have loved it, no fighting with setting the tension!!! Just love it!!! I have sewn two dresses and a jacket!!!!
