The SINGER 8770 Curvy with the innovative SwiftSmart Threading System combines digital technology with a one-touch needle threader, allowing sewers to spend less time threading the machine and more time exploring their creativity.
The machine's 225 stitches include alphanumeric stitches and seven styles of fully automatic one-step buttonholes. Its twin-needle sewing capability and adjustable stitch length and width help any sewer create one-of-a-kind projects.

The drop feed feature allows for creative top stitching.
The right stitch settings every time.
LCD ScreenThe LCD screen provides clear and easy viewing of stitch patterns including stitch length and width.
Center ZigZag TaperWhen tapering with the zigzag stitch the stitch tapers to the center, not the left or right, providing a more attractive look when tapering into or out from a point.
Automatic Tacking Stitch Function and Automatic Tie-Off FunctionTie off decorative and straight stitches with just a push of a button. With four tiny tacking stitches, the start and end of the pattern is reinforced. The automatic tie-off function reinforces the end of seams to ensure stronger stitching.
7mm Stitch WidthSelect stitches can be set for a maximum width of 7mm. When sewing decorative stitches or satin stitches, the wide stitches are bolder and more pronounced.
Programmable Needle Up/DownThe programmable needle up/down feature is vital for quilters when piecing together patchworks. Select to have the needle stop in the down position when appliquéing, quilting or pivoting fabric. When removing the fabric from the machine, the needle must be raised to the highest position.
Electronic Twin Needle ControlTwin needle sewing creates two parallel rows of stitching, adding a decorative touch to any project. With the electronic twin needle control, stitches are automatically adjusted for twin needle sewing in a snap. Full instructions are included in the manual.
Thirteen Needle PositionsThe position of the needle can be adjusted for individual projects including inserting zippers, cording and topstitching.
Mirror Image and Continuous PatternStitches can be mirror imaged with just a touch of a button. Individual stitches can be sewn together as a pattern just as easily.
Automatic TensionThis system ensures stable stitch quality regardless of fabric type. Feel free to override the preset tension for special project settings.
Extra-High Presser Foot LifterThe extra high presser foot lifter offers more clearance when placing multiple layers of bulky fabric under the presser foot.
Free Arm with On-Board StorageThe free arm provides easy access to cuffs, collars, pant hems and other difficult-to-reach areas. The on-board storage provides an easy storage solution for the included accessories.
Automatic Bobbin Winding ClutchThe needle bar automatically disengages when winding the bobbin. The needle does not move up and down, making bobbin winding safer.
Six-Segment Feed Dogs with Box FeedThis specially designed feed dog ensures the fabric is picked up and supported from the front of the presser foot to the back. The box feed motion ensures the feed dogs are always in perfect and equal contact with the fabric and presser foot.
Heavy-Duty Metal FrameThe interior rigid support holds all the mechanisms in perfect alignment for skip-free sewing.
Optimum Power ControlThe optimum power control aids in sewing multiple layers of dense fabric. The power remains constant regardless of sewing speed.
Portable and Cabinet MountableThe machine has a built-in carry handle, making it easy to transport the machine. The machine can also be mounted into a cabinet in a few easy steps.
Electronic Stitch FormationAll stepper motors are electronically controlled, allowing for perfectly formed patterns every time.

Singer's BIG flaw...,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: SINGER 8770 Curvy 225-Stitch Sewing Machine (Kitchen)
I bought this machine on Dec 21 of last year. The machine is sturdy and I agree with other comments that threading, tension adjustment and most sewing is very easy with this machine. The reason it doesn't get a 5 star is because Singer (the company) cut corners on it. Most machines at this price point (mid-tier) have enough features to take you to intermediate sewing levels. One key feature that differentiates beginner sewing from intermediate sewing is the ability to create perfect straight stitches. The most difficult straight stitches are in curves (as in princess seams) and in difficult to sew or sheer fabrics (i.e. slippery silks, chiffons, organzas, lace, etc). That's when you need to use a straight stitch throat place in your machine; not doing so invites skipped and uneven stitches. Singer chose not to build an additional throat plate for this machine.
Most machines brands similar in price provide this plate as an accessory you can buy. I assumed Singer would as well so I bought the machine without checking. Now I'm stuck with a machine that's overpriced but still performs at beginner levels. Make sure that if you're going to pay more $500 or more on your machine, this machine will allow you to sew for at least 4-6 years. Assuming your sewing ability will increase, the machine should have all the features you will need by the end of its useful life.

Got this as a Christmas present for me from me! I love it, lots of feature, many decorative stiches. So far using it for quilting and Zhu-Zhu clothes for the grandchildren. It's more complicated than machines I've had before (basic mechanical Kenmore, Singer) This was a real upgrade for me. no problems at all, except when I didn't read the instructions - it's new and as with any new "toy" it has it's own way of doing things. Once I went through the instructions it worked just like I wanted it to. There were several feet that came with it that I didn't recognize, I called Singer, gave them the model number and they sent me individual sheets on each of them. Well worth the money.

I got this machine a few weeks ago to sew quilts, pillowcases, blankets, curtains, zippers, and mending clothing. Overall, i REALLY like it. However i do have a few issues with the machine.
As one user pointed out, its rather difficult to sew in a straight line! i definetly had to practice on it before i started working. for some reason, when you set it to straight stich, i find it wants to pull the fabric to the right (while on a slow speed). When i push the footpedal down more, the fabric stays mostly striaght. you would think that with a slower speed it wouldnt want to pull...im a new sewer so i know that, with practice, i will be able to sew in a straight line. also the footpedal design is flawed...severely. I actually had to return the first machine i purchased. The way they attached the connector to the power source (when you plug in the footpedal into the machine) is bent so, over time, the footpedal will not work because the connection is not entirely solid. Thats a bit of a damper but i got a new one with ease. i just know i will have to replace it in the future!! otherwise i love this machine!
