An ideal sewing companion, this fully adjustable dress form allows for pattern adjustments before cutting, better fittings and alterations, and an opportunity to creatively work with fabrics and see how they will drape and hang on the body. Twelve dials make it easy to change the dimensions of the body, including settings at the neck for smooth collars and necklines.
The height also adjusts, and a hem gauge comes included to mark the hemline for skirts and dresses. In addition, the unit's gray fabric cover makes it possible to pin items onto the form.
The form requires basic assembly, but no tools are required. An instruction book comes included. Overall, the dress form measures 13-1/2 by 8 by 60 inches and fits sizes 10 to 16.

Not for tight-fitting clothes,

This dress form is very convenient. The multiple dials give you a lot of control in getting the right measurements, and the fabric-covered surface lets you pin materials to the form. However, there is one major drawback. You can't use the form to create tight-fitting tops or dresses, because the chest shape is not true to life! In real life, breast width transitions gradually from top to bottom, but at the bottom it cuts sharply in where the breast ends and the rib cage begins (under the cup). On this dress form though, the breasts thin out gradually on the underside as well, making the ribcage in that area disproportionately wide. With the waist and breast measurements set exactly to my own, it is *impossible* to even put my bra on the form! It would be great for loose shirts and dresses, but keep in mind that the chest area is messed up.

I am still glad that I now have this dress form, and had trouble finding other options in my price range, however there are some problems with this one. The height adjustment like others have said is tricky... the whole thing can come sliding down on you and might pinch your fingers so you have to be careful. It is actually best to make that a 2-person job. Fortunately you don't need to adjust that every time. The hemming arm is basically useless. This is frustrating because I don't think it would cost much more for them to make this better. It will not stay where you set it. I am going to go to the hardware store tonight and try to find some way to rig it up better. (I think I can get some sort of clamp to place under the ring.)My suggestion to them would be to make holes in the pole about every 1/2 or 1/4 of an inch and then use a pin to hold the hemming arm in place. This would not likely cost more money for them to manufacture. Granted it wouldn't be infinitely variable but that would meet most people's needs. And it would actually stay in place. The instructions are very incomplete. I didn't have trouble setting the size as some people say they have. You have to just be careful and make sure that you are opening all the dials evenly. When you take it out of the box it is at the smallest setting, so if you have to open a part of it out to the largest setting, open each dial about 1/2 way out and then go back around and open the rest of the way. I also think I am going to attach the base to a piece of wood, so that it will be less likely to tip over. I would worry about a child tipping it over. So in conclusion, some of the construction is dissappointing, but if you don't mind making some modifications on your own it is worth getting.

Good For Beginners,

I'm a complete and total novice to sewing so didn't want to spend much money but at the same time, really wanted something to help me beter visualize the patterns and create items that fit. At least for me, this dress form fits almost perfectly - literally every measurement is "spot on"...makes this very easy to use. Perhaps is not the most sturdy unit but being new, I have little to compare it with - dials are simple to use, settings all adjust easily. Very affordable, entry level dress form - great starter unit for beginners such as myself.
