If you sew or quilt, tool storage is always a problem. Singer's sewing kit makes a nice thread organizer, and for a beginner or for simple repair kit, it's great. Yet for most hobbyists, it's a great storage case that falls a bit short on "essentials." You'll want to substitute your own tools, such a decent pincushion, good-quality thread and metal and leather thimbles that fit your fingers.

I thought this product was great at first until I had to use the thread. It looks like it comes with a ton of thread, it's deceiving. There is very little thread on these spools, one sewing session on something that's not tiny and you'll be out buying more. I loved it as a storage case, but you'll definetly be buying more thread!!

Singer is the best company to buy sewing products from, in general. I just bought a sewing machine from them and needed a sewing kit (thread, bobbins, needles, measuring tape, etc.). This sew storage system is not only very compact and easy to store, but it also includes the essentials for the beginner and experienced sewer.

One drawback, however: as we do not choose the colors of thread we want in this kit, the manufacurer puts all the unnecessary colors in it (colors that I do not use much anyway).

In general, the product is great. I recommend it to Sewing Fans like myself.

I just recently bought this with my first sewing machine and it's a great starter package!
It came with all the basic's that I needed in order to start sewing.
It's compact, handy, and great quality for the price. I would suggest buying a few more things to add to this but this case comes with plenty of extra storage compartments to put all your small essentials in for starting out.
For the hobbyists it seems like a great economical storage kit even if you want to switch out whats in there for your own.
Overall I would defonitly recomment this kit for anyone starting out, and/or anyone looking for a nice storage unit.

The colors are very bright but great kit for a beginner like myself.

BUT ...... when i first opened it I didn't realize that the thread would fall out so be careful and gently pull down the sides do just open it fast and excited ..... lol

No bobbins included, and space for them is not a "clip" but a plastic tray inside a side tray.

Nice for a beginner that is starting from scratch, but thread spools are not secure & have only a little thread on them, and fold-out trays are a bit inconvenient.

I would recommend for perhaps a middle school student taking a home economics class, but prolly not the best system for a more advanced seamstress.

I would be VERY careful having this around smaller children, as things can fall out fairly easily. I'll prolly invest in some foam & I already have a pin cushion that wil hold the pins.

The outer case is durable, but the inside leaves some to be desired... like I said... great for a beginning sewer without smaller children in the house, but then I'd STRONGLY recommend adding something to secure the items inside (perhaps velcro?)... not sure what to do to hold the spools of thread in more securely.. Any ideas would be welcome!

This kit could have been done a lot better, but again for someone new to sewing, it's probably sufficient. It would be nice if it contained full spools of thread (preferably with nice cotton thread - not poly-cotton mix, as it tends to jam in many sewing machines), a better pair of scissors, a better tape measure, a pin cushion (preferably a nice one), a better system to keep things secure so the thread does fly out when it's opened, and it wouldn't have cost Singer much more to make this kit 5 star!

But for the price, it's OK. It's something I'll likely pass onto my grandchildren when I find something better and they get a bit older! I would not recommend this for a serious quilter, seamstress, or fashion designer... Look elsewhere if you are serious about sewing!

decent little kit to get you off the ground with a new sewnig machine but for 30 bux they could have provided a little more thread. Other than that it's fine.

Like others I believe the storage case itself is a good quality. However the quality of the thread leaves much to be desired and I wouldn't use it with quilt shop quality fabric.

Actually all the enclosed items are fair to poor in quality...I gave the "insides" to my grandsons who are beginning sewers but I use the case itself.

I've solved the falling out thread issue by storing a filled bobbin on top of each spool of thread. This bypasses the cheap plastic bobbin holder insert and keeps the spools of thread in place a bit better.

Thats the good and the bad....and for me the ugly is all the florescent thread...but then my grandsons love it and they use it on their machines....

the point of having a sewing kit is to have bobbins. when i bought this storage system, i was under the impression that there were 10 bobbins in the case. but there were none. so basically you just have all this pretty colored thread but no way to use it while sewing. its a waste of money, you can buy everything in the kit for less than what it costs here.

This Singer Sew Essentials System is for my daughter-in-law. She had never seen anything like it, so she was very impressed with it. I knew she needed the accessories, and she appreciated it.
