After years of using a portable universal tuner through either the FM tuner or aux. jack on my stereo, I finally decided it was time to upgrade my stereo head unit so I could integrate all my "attachments". I've been using the Sirius SCC1 with my Alpine CDA-9886 for about 5 months now, and I've been extremely pleased with it. The Sirius SCC1 works GREAT with the head unit and causes no issues with the other peripherals attached to it (I've also got the bluetooth module (KCA 200BT) and iPod cable). The sound quality is excellent--far better than it was using the portable unit through the auxillary input. One of the features I appreciated most about my portable unit was the ability to mark favorite songs or bands and be notified when they're being broadcast on any channel. This unit maintains that ability, although I do miss the option of having the notification beep through the speakers; instead the notification is visual on the face of the head unit, so if you're not looking at the head unit, you can easily miss it. (I haven't read through all the instructions though, so this isn't to say that the beep option doesn't exist).

Don't forget that with this unit, you will need the Sirius adaptor that is specific to your head unit. This is the TUNER itself, NOT the adaptor. YOU MUST HAVE BOTH in order for it to work (mine is paired with the KCA-SC100). All in all I've found the SCC1 to be a great value. Installation was SUPER easy for me (I installed it myself in about 20 minutes), the sound quality is great, and the convenience and cleanness of keeping everything integrated through the head unit makes it a great product.

Basically this product is what it is. It does what says it does, of course you still need to purchase your adapter for your particular stereo brand, but other than that, it works. The only gripe that I had with the product was that the antenna was poor. From the start it had an issue acquiring a signal. It would constantly cut-off, and that was SO annoying when you are trying to listen to a broadcast. Luckily I had the old antenna from my portable unit and I used it instead. It was night and day, and I can now get great signal always. The antenna that works great with this device is the Sirius Radio Dot Micro Car Antenna.

SIRIUS SCC1 Connect Universal Tuner

I bought one of these SIRIUS tuner modules to enable me to receive satellite radio through my new in-dash unit. It works perfectly. The tuner is so sensitive that I can listen to SIRIUS with the car parked inside my garage.

NOTE: an additional interface module is also required to connect this tuner to your in-dash unit. The specific interface module you need will depend on the brand and model of your head unit. Be sure you have both before beginning your installation.

The first one I received and installed would cut in and out
all the time. After trying to adjust the antenna and talking to
Sirius I came to the conusion it was a faulty unit. So I returned
it to Amazon and got a replacement. The second receiver works
fine but it was a lot of extra work switching the units and I even
had to pay a $15 activation fee with Sirius to activate the second
unit. But it does work fine now

I was not able to get this product to connect with Sirius. I had to purchase a second unit from another company and now have the Sirius service. The tuner was not recognized by Sirius.

Research well, I had to purchase an additional part from Radio Shack $54.95 to make this work with my Kenwood receiver. Sirius and XM have merged, however if you own radios for both of them you do not get a multiple radio discount.

Item clearly stated that the antenna was included. The box that the tuner came in stated it included the antenna. Seller would not supply the missing antenna and was forced to purchase one for an additional $30.00 at Best Buy

If you have bought an aftermarket "Satellite-Ready" car stereo, and think buying this tuner is going to let you connect it directly to your stereo, call and activate your subscription, and be enjoying commercial-free tunes in your car in minutes, better think again! Apparently Sirius has partnered with all the different stereo manufacturers so that you have to buy a special "translater" module to allow you to hook this thing up, after you've already bought this one. I have a Clarion CX400 "Sat-Ready" stereo, and bought this "universal" (LOL) tuner to listen to Sirius in my car. After trying to hook it to my stereo, I discovered that the cables don't match up, and I have to buy another $50 part to make it work. There's nothing "universal" about this thing. After researching, I discovered that they make one of these "translator" boxes for all the other brands too (Kenwood, Pioneer, Sony, etc.). I think it's just a huge racket so that Sirius can sell more products. Wouldn't you think each manufacturer would have a "universal" adapter for Sirius radio? Well I guess if they did that they couldn't sell you more components could they? What a ripoff!

I needed this part in order to receive Sirius directly on my new car stereo without any other external tuner and this tuner did the trick. Now everything Sirius shows up right on the screen. The price was great too.
