Works well and invisibly with a few minor glitches
Works like a charm. This unit is small and works well. There was plenty of antenna wire. The first time the tech hooked it up, for some reason the radio didn't recognize the box. But after a reattempt with me watching over his shoulder it worked flawlessly. Maybe there's some fussiness there about the order of connection or the unit needs to see the sky...

Sirius SIR1-JVC cuts out every day
I gave up after a few months. Had it connected to a JVC KD-R900 The unit was cutting out several times a day due to loss of satellite signal. The unit froze up and I had to cut power to it 3 times. I found the satellite signal level was always low compared to my XM unit. I put a XM adapter in it's place and...

The first time the tech hooked it up, for some reason the radio didn't recognize the box. But after a reattempt with me watching over his shoulder it worked flawlessly. Maybe there's some fussiness there about the order of connection or the unit needs to see the sky for a while. Every once in a while with a long song name the radio display shows another long song name in its place. The same long name it first saw seems to be stuck in there. I'm not sure if that's the Sirius unit or the radio. Probably a reset will clear it out until whatever happened happens again and another name gets stuck. Wish I could upgrade firmware all around.

I found the satellite signal level was always low compared to my XM unit. I put a XM adapter in it's place and since then not one loss of signal for the last 4 months. Programming is much better on XM if you like sports. Recommendation: Don't waste your money on this unit. |
