O Siyam will showcase the enormous diversity of Canadian Aboriginal art with full-colour images, descriptive text and critical commentary. This beautiful, collector's edition will highlight the importance and relevance of Canada's Aboriginal artists in an exhibition of unprecedented scope. Much of the commissioned art will be on permanent display at competition and non-competition Olympic and Paralympic Winter venues after the Games. Artwork featured in the book will vary from the traditional to the contemporary and will include a range of art by both major Aboriginal artists and emerging new talent. Descriptions of the artists and their work are being written in consultation with Aboriginal curators and historians.

About the Author
Gerald McMaster is an artist, author, educator and the curator of Canadian Art at the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) in Toronto. He was a curator of Contemporary Indian Art at the Canadian Museum of Civilization, and deputy assistant director for Cultural Resources and special assistant to the director at the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian before joining the AGO. He was raised on Red Pheasant First Nation, Saskatchewan. McMaster now lives in Ottawa and Toronto.

This a very handsome presentation of the Aboriginal Art displayed at the 2010 Winter Olympics. The photos of the Art Work are excellent. I have some of Alan Syliboy's Art Work---he did 8 panels for the figure skating practice venue---there is also information on the artists and abit of the history of Canada's First Nations. It is a Book worth buying and having for the history of the 2010 Winter Olympics. Very attractive.
