I bought the husky brand and was deeply disapointed that HomeDepot didn't have replacment or individual sockets available anymore. I looked at Sears and the quality isn't there anymore. The size is hard to read. This SK set has more sizes than the Husky or Kobalt brands. I can order any other sizes and accessories on Amazon. I have used SK tools years ago and these are far superior to the sets that I used to have. I am going to buy the larger sizes to complete my set.

I have many snap on,matco,and mac tools.These SK tools are just as good as any of those for a fraction of their cost.It would be very easy to build a nice tool set of SK tools for very little cost,not much more then overrated craftsman tools

Great socket set with every size you would ever need. Chrome plating is very nice. The ratchet has a shorter swing arc than regular pear head ratchets which helps in tight spots. I thought the case was OK, if turned upside down sockets will fall out of their spots and get mixed up.

Sockets are in my opinion a serious STRONG POINT of the S-K tool line. To the point - S-K makes, in my opinion, some of the very best professional grade sockets to be found anywhere, no matter the brand or the price. Point blank - period - they are comparable to the very best, and as good as it gets.

In my personal tool box I have literally hundreds of sockets. Standard height - tall - chrome - impact - 1/4 - 3/8 - 1/2 - you name it - if you need it to work on a car - good chance it's in there. I have sockets from Snap-On, from MAC Tools, Matco, and Cornwell. And I have sockets from S-K. I would say S-K sockets make up at least 25% of all the sockets I own - and they are absolutely fantastic. They grip bolts with rounded off corners with ease. They will turn anything that the big boys sockets will turn. I have put my impacts on 1/2 inch Dynabrade pneumatic impact guns without any deforming on the square attachment hole. What can I say? THEY WORK! They hold up! And they do everything and anything you ask of them to do.

The WORST think I can say about them is that it IS possible to scratch the chrome on the deep well sockets for example if you use them to loosen up a lug nut on a wheel. I did NOT say scratch THROUGH - just a superficial mark on the chrome itself. Now if you used the impacts instead - that is not a problem. I just needed a thin wall socket because of clearance on a Porsche, and noticed this later. Probably any of the others - no matter the brand - would have gotten a mark also - so I do not criticize them for this. Their Chrome seems to be as hard and as thick as any on my Snap-Ons or Macs.

Now about the ratchet handle itself. Folks Mechanics are fairly finicky when it comes to their personal ratchet handles. This is a tool they use all day long every day. They may have 100 sockets - but I guarantee you every mechanic has a favorite ratchet handle that he uses with all of them. This said - I would be surprised if that ratchet handle happened to be the SK handle included in this set. The reason is purely subjective. This ratchet handle is sturdy, durable, well made, and completely capable of providing years of trouble free reliable use. It has a good grip, and by any measure, is excellent. However.... It just does not "FEEL" right to me - particularly in the "click" that I feel. It feels - what is the right word? Harsh? Beyond this I am not a fan of ratchet handles that select direction by rotating on the centerline of the socket. I prefer the Snap-On / Matco design where there is a separate lever you can easily flip with your thumb - one way - or the other. For MY money - I would buy this set for all of the parts - then buy a Snap-On ratchet handle - keeping the SK handle for a backup. Oh - wait - that is EXACTLY what I did and have in my personal tool box!

All in all - a stellar superstar product - at a price the average home mechanic can afford. I give this product 5 stars - only because I can not give it 6......

I found this set to be a very comprehensive and well planned set in 1/4" drive. There really have not been any task that I have subjected it to that I have not found the right socket included, SAE or metric. The sockets have substantial heft and weight, always a real plus when bearing down on a tough nut or bolt. They do not strip out fasteners like so many other brands do and the full polish makes them a breeze to clean and to keep clean. The plastic case is a little weak in the latching system and it tends to not click shut after extended opening and closing but that happens to a lot of cases. My only real complaint about this set is the ratchet. While it functions well, I do not like its shape or length, nor do I like the round head. It is very hard to change the direction of the drive with greasy hands and its short, non-contoured handle makes it hard to grip though the knurls help. The teeth are not as fine or smooth as I would like either. It seems that it should be a finer tool for the price. I much prefer the teardrop ratchets with a reversing switch. I replaced the ratchet in this set with a Blue Point ratchet that is smooth and fits my hand but it does not fit in the ratchet slot. I mashed it in anyway, sold the SK ratchet and never looked back.

I THINK SK HAS BEEN AROUND FOREVER. IT'S A BRAND THAT MY FATHER USED AND I WAS LUCKY TO INHERIT THE SK TOOLS HE HAD AND IT JUST SEEMED NATURAL TO ADD ON AND EXPAND THIS GREAT TOOL SET. I WILL WITHOUT A DOUBT, PASS THIS SET ON TO MY SON.

This is a great little set and yes the sockets do roll around if turned over but this can be quickly overcome by going to lowe's or home depot and getting a piece of foam that you use in tool boxes and cutting it to size,I have a craftsman tool set that I had to do this with,I don't know why everyone has to use plastic cases though whatever happened to metal they last longer and are more durable.other then that it is a nice set to use

I bought this set when it was on sale for $90.00 on a Friday sale. I know S&K "used" to be quality tools but this stuff is junk. It came in a really cheap plastic box that will not hold any sockets. I just opened it and had sockets all over. They just lay in dimples in the box and when the lid is closed and you turn the carrying case on its side all the sockets roll out of place. Being that they are so small it took me over 5 minutes to get all of them back in order. I was very disappointed. Then I had an empty space in the case. I discovered that I was missing the wobbly socket. Then as I was looking at some of the sockets I found rust in them the more I looked the mores rust I found inside the sockets and some had chrome starting to peel around the edges. The ratchet had very very poor feel to it. For a ¼ drive ratchet is should be smooth and easy to rotate. This ratchet was neither. This kit is worse then even the cheapest Harbor Freight tools. I was extremely disappointed. I was looking for the definitive ¼ drive set that you would need and this is NOT it. I would have been happier with Harbor Freight, Husky, Sears or Cobalt long before this set. Go buy a Husky or Cobalt set or even Harbor Freight before you even think about this junk. S&K if you read this....pull your head out....your tools are not worth the $$ anymore. Your not a Snap On, you cant even compete with the "bargain" brands. At least if I buy from Sears, Home Depot or Lowes I can run back and get a new tool if one breaks. In this case your stuck unless you want mail it back.
