We are very happy with the Gig Rig. However, the cover does not fit well and because of that it does not secure.

I purchased this to assemble a portable sound system for a church that meets in a school. The "deal-maker" was that this had lockable covers that would allow them to store it in a school closet and no worry of tampering. Upon arrival I ran into several problems with this case. First, I thought all SKB was USA made, but this comes marked made in Mexico. Better than China but probably a reason for the flaws. After unpacking, I mounted the wheels. The supplied screw/washer package was missing a locking washer and all the regular washers were the wrong size. How do you screw that up? (no pun intended) Also, there were no keys for the locking front panel. I called SKB and was told they would mail all that out the next day. They did not. It took another call three days later to get what I needed. After attaching the wheels, I began mounting the gear in the front rack area. No problems. I then started to mount the mixer on top and found out the rack rails were out of alignment. Not much, but enough to where I had to "tweak" it to get the screws in. The last issue was that there is not enough clearance for the top case panel to attach if you have any XLR's plugged into the top of the mixer! Now for a case made for a top mounted mixer, you would think they would give enough clearance to keep them plugged in. Not so. Probably another inch would do it. Maybe a little more. I consider this a poor design. The rack comes with rack screws, but the package is labeled as screws and cage nuts for non-threaded rack rails. I can't figure out why it was mislabeled except they wanted to use up some old printed packages. Lastly, putting all the covers on takes some practice. There are no instructions so it's trial and error. When done (finally!) the unit looks great. Rolls easily and is lighter in weight as compared to a regular wooden rolling rack. SKB needs better quality control and customer support that will do what it says when they say it.
