Very well made grinder, muh stronger head and bearings than most others in the same price range. This grinder is much heavier than the cheap ones you see at the tool websites and stores. I would not recommend this for one handed use.

I purchased this factory reconditioned grinder and of course plugged it in and ran it when I received it. I loaded it up to take it to my project in another state and of course it was dormant during this time, and by the way the warranty clock was ticking.

I got to the job, the first time I went to use the grinder it lasted about 2 minutes. The first indication was it slowed down, but the lights weren't dimmed so it wasn't a voltage problem. Next I noticed substantial arcing from the commutator, and then it stopped. Remember I've only used it for two minutes.

So, back through the gauntlet for returning defective tools. Today I received "my tool" which was shipped back to me. It was not repaired, it was not replaced, but they paid for the shipping to send it back with a tag that said "out of warranty". I guess that it was cheaper to send it to me than to throw it away at the warranty depot.

Anyway, I won't buy another Skil tool.

l love amazon review sections. The one stars are always the crazy ones, it's like watching the beginning seasons of American Idol. One guy claims a design flaw over Bosh, one left it in some trunk somewhere, someplace for a year.. and one had missing parts and was taken care of. 1 star. com'n, we are laughing with you. x

Grinder is doing good so far. Kick'n deal at Lowls if they have anymore in stock. 1 left in the Boise valley (on overland). Check their site. $12 less than this deal currently. Paring this up with quality disks, it's a rockstar on steel. Really like being able to move the handle to 3 different locations as well as the power lock. When you use electric power tools, don't skimp on the extension cords or power. No, nothing is really a 5 star. The grip is kind of fat at the body.

I got home with 3 grinders, only to find none came with a lock but. Finally gave up. Return policy was friendly, though.

Beware of any grinder which exhausts the motor cooling air out the side.
This grinder will throw crap in your face all day long due to its poor design and obvious lack of pre-production testing.
Ive wrapped duct tape round the grinder body to cover the exhaust ports and now find it acceptable, but anxiously await the day this grinder bites the dust.
