5.0 out of 5 stars Easy up and down, June 26, 2011
Very, very happy with this purchase!
It is easy to set up and take down, just a couple of minutes for each.
Even though it is 7' by 7' my 5' 5" wife also has no problem setting the Quickster up.
Very sturdy, my son and his friends use regulation baseballs hitting off a tee into the net as well as pitching into the target without any damage at all so far (about 2 months of use).
I would highly recommend this over a pop- up version which are easy to set up but difficult to fold up.

4.0 out of 5 stars I would choose this over the Jugs net, December 3, 2011
This review is from: SKLZ Quickster Net with Baseball Target (Sports)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I have and will compare this item to the Jugs Instant Screen

I have a 7 year old boy and 4 year old girl. They use this screen for batting off a tee and soft toss. They also use the strike zone target for working on throwing accuracy. I am 37 years old and I hit off the soft toss as well, so it gets hit hard and soft.

I coach my sons under 8 baseball team and we will use this and the Jugs product during practices.

I have the 5x5 Foot net and would strongly recommend that you get the 7x7-foot instead. The 5x5 works, but having that extra 2x2 feet would be a huge difference.

The assembly and take-down for this is quick, easy, and straight forward. This product beats the Jugs Instant screen in this aspect. I always dread folding up the Jugs net.

The quality of the netting has nothing on the Jugs product. Jugs has a very durable netting while this has a softer feel to it. I suspect that the netting on this will give out well before my Jugs net.

Strike Zone Box on this is much better than the Jugs. The Jugs version is just a hanging box/outline. This one is complete with a net to catch the strikes and attaches to all four corners rather than two straps.

Because this net is square shaped, it will also be handy for my kids soccer practices. The round Jugs net is not useful in that situation.

Including four good quality ground stakes is a great touch and makes this complete right out of the box. The Jugs net came with four good screw type stakes, but I ended up purchasing my own U shaped stakes similar to what came with this net.

In the end, I think this and the Jugs nets are good, but if I were to purchase another one, I would definitely buy the 7x7-foot SKLZ Net for the ease of setup/take-down, strike-zone net, and multi-sport use.

I will update my review late spring when our little league baseball season ends to update on the durability of the net and the product as a whole.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for Little League practices, December 1, 2011

This net is very simply to assemble, functions well and is easy to store and carry. I didn't time myself on the assembly, but it's true that it doesn't take but a couple of minutes to go from bag to fully set-up. There's really no chance you'll mess it up - the only thing to watch for is that the poles that bend are under a good amount of tension. You'll want to take care that no one is standing at the rear or sides of the net when assembling or dis-assembling. Lose your grip and it could smack them pretty good. Always do those tasks from the front side of the net.

All the poles, both metal and fiberglass have the bungee cords inside them to keep all the pieces together. The rear yellow pole has the push-button locking mechanism to keep the poles together when assembled. Once up, the main net is nicely stretched. It offers good performance, but hitting a hard ball into the top part of the net often lets the ball rebound back out of the net rather than dropping to the ground. If you're going to use this for older kids, you might want the larger 7x7 net. Other than that, it seems big enough to use with a tee, though I wouldn't be hitting toward other people since badly hit balls or pop ups could still miss this size net.

The included pitching target also works well and when put on the net is about the right height for pitching to little leaguers. It can be adjusted to hang lower, but can't be adjusted much higher than about mid-way because the bottom straps are a fixed length. While you could turn the pitching target upside down, it wouldn't catch the balls properly, but would at least serve as a target. For this reason, and the 5' height, using it for football throwing practice makes this net not the greatest choice.

The ground stakes are a must-use item, as any moderate wind against the back of the net will cause it to tip forward. Once staked, it's very stable.

The carry bag is ok - that kind of shiny/smooth nylon that's not ultra-durable but at least serves the purpose. My biggest complaint with the bag is that it's only velcro closure, not a zip bag. I'll be worried about losing a ground stake over time. Everything fits into the bag easily, even if you don't fold everything up perfectly.

All-in-all this net delivers on it's purpose and is well constructed. I'm looking forward to getting a lot of use out of it. It's small enough I can set it up in the basement during the winter but large enough to use outside as well. It's quick and easy to set up and take down, and light enough to carry back and forth to practices.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality Build - Easy to Use, November 27, 2011
This review is from: SKLZ Quickster Net with Baseball Target (Sports)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
The SKLZ Quickster net provides simple setup, similar to that of pitching a tent, but much easier. There's only a base frame, two arm poles, four "U" ground stakes and the net required at minimum - with both an optional ball collection skirt and a pitching target net to attach at most; I can knock it out in about two or three minutes taking my time.

It's a great net for pitch training. It is easy to attach the additional pitching "zone" in front of the full size net for an excellent targeting setup; I can keep my body in rhythm and improve my accuracy and coordination at my own leisure. The ball collection skirt can be attached (Velcro-style) to the bottom of the net so that I don't need to roam around collecting stray balls.

The instructions make it easy to set up; the diagrams highlight where the little loops and the hooks are to reveal where things should go. It's a small, no-frills printout, which leaves nothing to guess. It consists of only two stapled-and-folded-into-a-booklet pieces of paper to read. Really, there's nothing to it.

It includes a durable canvas bag for storage. It has a shoulder strap to make it easy to carry, too.

I find the 5'x5' net sufficient, yet there is a 7'x7' version available for anyone who prefers a larger backdrop.

I enjoy the Quickster sports net for its quality construction, versatile features and simplicity.

4.0 out of 5 stars SKLZ Quickster 7x7, November 25, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This training net is the perfect size for baseball on-the-go or at home. It took me 5-10 minutes to set it up for the first time. It was easy to set up and take down. The only con I have is that it blows away easily when not using the stakes to hold it down (like on a cement slab). If you use it as it was designed for; on a practice field, then it is great. I would recommend this product to any coach for its great size, price, and ease of use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great value., December 24, 2011

Similar products in Australia sell for almost double this price. Good quality product. My 10 year old son could put this together, with just a little help bending the rods to attach the net. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars My daughter LOVES this!, December 21, 2011
This review is from: SKLZ Quickster Net with Baseball Target (Sports)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
Although this specifically says baseball in the description, my daughter has used it for baseball and soccer balls. The set up truly IS quick- about two minutes. It is easy to take down too and storage- no problem. Takes up very little room.

I love this net because it is heavy duty and works well, but you don't have to leave it up endlessly in the backyard to be ruined by the elements outside which get really rough here.

So far this net has taken abuse for a month by a girl with a very strong arm- stronger than mine. The weather is getting colder and more challenging out so I am not sure she will be practicing a whole lot until spring again.

I highly recommend this net. It is a great investment and so far very sturdy and able to take the ball easily. I love that it can be stored and is space consciously small in comparison to its expanded size. The carrying case is nice too. It is one of the few times I have seen my daughter pick something up and put it away immediately after every use!

The biggest surprise for me was when I opened the box; the target comes prepacked in the carrying case. The target was a bit heavier than I anticipated, but not excessively. All parts fit easily in the case and the direction are also located there. The directions are easy to follow and straightforward.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for hitting tee and soft toss, October 12, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have both the 7 X 7 and 5 X 5 nets. Both take less than 90 seconds to put up and take down. Net appears to be heavy duty and I am not afraid of tearing it. Great design on carrying case. Net easily fits back in everytime. Once in carrying case it is easily carried in a compact form that doesn't take up too much room. The larger net probably is better for younger kids, because it gives them more room for error if they mishit a ball, but we use the 5X5 net on my son's 9 year old baseball team before each game without any problem. I would rather have this net over many that cost 2-3 times more.
