When I received this from Amazon.com, the packaging had been cut open (by whoever mailed it) and the item had been accessed and if I'm missing something I'm not aware of it.Tools on the SKS CT-Worx 20 are roughened so they won't slip on screws. The metal tools are very durable. The chain break is really nice and solid and worked very easily on a 1/4 inch chain. The handle is very solid too but It seems to me that the tire levers (grey plastic) might be a little awkward to use. I'm not a fan of metal flat wrenches (stored underneath grey tire levers inside handle) like on this tool, but in a crunch you can't complain. This is a really nice tool that deserves some upgrades. It got a great review on BikeRadar.com which is why I bought it. I just wish Amazon.com employees wouldn't ship already opened sold items.

I had been riding for a while without a multi-tool, and now I'm not sure how I got along without one. Now I can make quick adjustments easily on my own bike, or grab it when I'm going to be riding an unfamiliar bike: I recently rented a tandem, and the excursion would have been a disaster had I not been able to make some adjustments to the handlebars and derailleurs! This thing has virtually everything you'd need for a field repair in a very compact form -- though I did manage to find, after some searching, something on my bike that uses a 2mm hex key. I also believe some bikes may find use for a 10mm hex or torx drivers, but neither of mine. The hex keys work great and are sufficiently strong. One thing to mention is the 8mm hex is the handle of the chain tool, so it would be harder to get a lot of torque when using this, with the others one can use the body of the tool itself. I can't think of anything off the top of my head that uses an 8mm so I guess it isn't a big deal. The wrenches work as you'd expect, again not a lot of torque so you aren't getting a pedal off, but that is intrinsic to an emergency multi-tool's design. The screwdrivers are good, and fit the adjustment screws on derailleurs well. The spoke wrench I've used several times already and does the job. The tool folds up very nicely, fitting well even in my tiny road bike saddle bag. Another reviewer lamented the lack of a case, but I cannot see why, as this would just make it bulkier. The hex keys were sliding out when I first got it, but one can adjust the tightness easily with a 2.5mm hex. All the tools and the plastic frame are solidly built and seem like they'll last. There aren't many other multi-tools out there with this amount of functionality, and all of them are more expensive and larger.

In agreement with the previous reviewer I have to say this is a well made, tough tool. If you can't fix your bike on the road with this probably you'll need a hammer. Keeping in mind that good tools usually are heavy , seems like the number of tools included in this device is the required to keep the balance between weight, maneuverability and basic necessities. The negative aspect could be the lack of a proper case, but if you're not interested in Batman's belt probably you'll be ok with a small saddle bag. |
