4.0 out of 5 stars SKS RennKompressor aka Zefal Husky
Hi, I'm a fan of this great pump, can easily inflate my conti's to 130 lb, will go to 230 lb, but get the new EVA head, or the classic presta head on this model. Avoid the older plastic two opening head, it cracked and leaked, I had to replace it with a Topeak hose and head ( I didn't know SKS would replace, and I needed the pump right away). Very durable, but difficult...

Good Pump. Head sucks, you'll want to replace it. The readings are not in PSI but in Bars so be prepared to convert. I like the all metal body and the wood handle. This is for the serious old time bike geek...

4.0 out of 5 stars SKS RennKompressor aka Zefal Husky, November 9, 2008

Hi, I'm a fan of this great pump, can easily inflate my conti's to 130 lb, will go to 230 lb, but get the new EVA head, or the classic presta head on this model. Avoid the older plastic two opening head, it cracked and leaked, I had to replace it with a Topeak hose and head ( I didn't know SKS would replace, and I needed the pump right away). Very durable, but difficult to obtain the cylinder washer. I've found the part on Amazon USA, in Germany on Amazon with a rebuild kit, and a Dutch cycle shop, but shipping is half the price of the pump for a tiny item that could be sent in an envelope by ordinary mail from the overseas vendors .... SKS in Olney Illinois did respond, and stated they would send the part, thanks SKS...
When you clean and regrease this pump, use only silicone grease and silicone spray oil to clean with. I recommend dupont silcone spray with teflon as the cleaner, wipe everything dry, ( use 22 mm socket for the valve in the bottom, no grease, silicone spray only ) and regrease THE CYLINDER with sil glyde, A light coating on a synthetic cloth rubbed into the cylinder, I use a shotgun cleaning rod (cylinder only), this pump could outlive 3 generations of riders... if we can get the replacement cylinder washer in the future...

4.0 out of 5 stars Would be 5 stars if included Shrader adapter, April 27, 2009

Bought this as its considered the quintessential floor pump with a design thats been around for decades and every part is supposed to be serviceable. I can attest to it being a quality product that works fabulously. A floor pump is a must for any bicyclist. Sure, you could probably get by on something cheaper but if you appreciate quality, you can't go wrong with this. UNLESS your bike uses shrader valves as this is Presta ONLY. I'm not sure if it can be adpated as there is nothing included nor any mention of it on the packaging. As it is though, it fills tires extremely quick with little effort (I pump my tires up to 116PSI or 8 BAR). Gauge at the bottom is easy to see, displays pressure in BAR only not PSI and won't break from falling over due to it's location (and it hasn't tipped over on me yet).

5.0 out of 5 stars Inflation Problems Solved, July 1, 2008

This pump is incredible. First, it is a nice heavy cast iron, steel, chrome and rubber model and does not skip around or fall while you are using it. Designed to accommodate only Presta valves, the push-pull valve sealing/seating mechanism with replaceable rubber washer, once you learn how it operates, is foolproof. And the amount of air that gets pumped into my 750 X 23's with only a few strokes is absolutely awesome. When you release the valve sealing assembly you get a woosh of compressed air equivalent in sound to what you can hear in an automotive repair facility when they crank up their compressed air guns. This pump is all business and performs flawlessly. The excess air is that which comes out of the pump not the tire so you do not lose psi when you disconnect. I run my roadbike at 120psi and it's a snap to get my Michelin Carbons up to that pressure. My previous floor pump was a Zefal HP made of plastic purchased 20 years ago. I blew the seal out of it about a month ago but even before that happened I couldn't get more than 70 psi or so out of it. The Rennkompressor at $64.00 with free shipping from Amazon has given me the best my bike can offer and is worth its weight in gold. I have heard that the alternate new model has a "universal" valve sealing attachment which has received some negative criticism. If you want to be on the safe side and you don't need to fill Schrader valve tires the 75th Anniversary Rennkompressor is the way to go. This is a killer pump. One minor criticism--the manufacturer did not include the word "Rennkompressor" anywhere in the graphics on this model. Instead there is a shield on the cylinder identifying the company of manufacture, which is SKS.

3.0 out of 5 stars Collectible or functional?, October 16, 2009

Well designed pump, heavy cast iron base, gauge calibrated in Bars, not PSI. Downside: mine had a valve fitting on the end for presta, would not convert as some do to serve schrader. So I cut the hose and spliced on an aftermarket hose and valve clamp fitting for another $20 US. Disappointing to have to do surgery on such a pretty new pump.
So I'd say this is well built, retro, euro, etc. but not set up for the avg. US family bike fleet.
