Works with TiVo
I bought this to use with TiVo. It worked great out of the box. Sturdy and the jack won't break easily, like it does with many other models.

Not USB 2.0
Ignore the incorrect product description above. This is not a USB 2.0 device, so its effective maximum speed is about 6Mb/s. To get a USB 2.0 version, look up the SMC2209USB/ETH. This one is identical to the "SMC SMC2208USB/ETH EZ Connect USB to Dual-Speed Ethernet Compact Converter". Go and read the reviews under that title for more details.

This was pretty much just a plug n play replacement for a TiVo branded wireless USB adapter that had frequent disconnects and drop outs. Even sitting next to each other the adapter would fail and the TiVo would reboot. I decided try get an adapter to make a direct link to my LAN. This adapter took over the configed ip addr and other tcp settings so it immediatly worked and connected to my pc for the TiVo desktop pc for show transfers. It was a totally flawless upgrade and transition.

Adapter Works as Described, and for TIVO,

This USB-ethernet adapter worked well for my router-to-TIVO series 2 connection. Not all adapters work, so I checked the TIVO site ([...]). The SMC2208 was listed as "not tested but reported to work," and indeed it did.

This is a great adapter if your ethernet port is jacked like mine is! I kinda wish I had a cord, though, because that would be something I wouldn't really have to watch out for, but for sitting on my desk in my dorm room, this adapter rocks!
