I bought the 1 piece version of this medium priced rod. While I find it a value, it deserves better guides than the plain stainless. The worst part is I had to get 2 because the first arrived broken. My concern would be a stress fracture that was not immediately visible. I have flexed this one and can see no damage, but the flimsy carton should at least be doubled for protection.

I fish from a 8'9" Zodiac Dingy and keep my rods 6 ft. and below, especially fishing with someone else aboard. Rods 4'6 to 5'6 also work well for Kayak fishing. I own quite a few rods, some on the high $$ end. I haven't fished with this rod yet, but I did cast in my back yard a few times and I love it. It has the feel of a high-end rod. I bought the 5 ft. Light version to go with my Penn Ultra light open face spinning reel spooled w/6 lb. line, which is on the heavier side for ultras. First of all, this is the only 5 ft. light rod I found that will fill that need. Also, there are not too many 5' rods out there to begin with. Most mfg. offer only 4'6" or 5'6". This is a perfect size for my needs, and to have the quality, light action and sensitive feel to go along with it; it's a winner.
