PadDock 10 is a unique stand for iPad. It features custom designed speakers, class D amplifier and a passive radiator for natural full range sound. Integrated charge and sync mode allows switching to high speed charge mode without changing cables. PadDock 10 rotates 360 degrees for the best orientation and tilts for best viewing angle.

Really 3 1/2 stars, but rounded up because my particular use is probably not what it was designed for.
Holds the ipad securely, wide enough base that it doesn't feel tippy. Speaker quality is better than ipad native, but not anything to get particularly excited about. External volume is nice.
Oddly enough the speakers point backward (away from you as you look at the device). Since I use this mostly when I'm in the kitchen (for recipes and music and to keep the ipad up off the counter) and I use it on the kitchen counter/bar, this means that to have it as loud as I want it, I have to turn it up enough to annoy the person in the next room. Partly solved by putting a solid cardboard box behind it for the sound to reflect off of, but that's pretty kludgey for something that costs nearly $100.

At first I was excited to find that there was an IPod docking station with speakers that moved to a horizontal position. I ordered it immediately because it was the only one. I was VERY disappointed to find that it did not come with a wall plug, only a usb port plug. If I wanted to connect it to my computer I would! That is ridiculous. The speakers are horrible, static and no depth at all. The speakers face to the rear. Really? The dock frame does not angle up/down, so it has to be directly on a plane with your view. Wait until JBL comes out with one!

It's almost hard to believe any designer would build something with so much promise and throw it all away, but these guys did. The first obvious flaw is the speakers, which aren't bad, face backwards. I mean, this is George Bush level stupidity. What it really cries out for is a battery source so you can just grab it and use it, but no. The real killer is the iPads internal speakers don't work when its in the cradle, and you have to have it plugged in to work. Sheesh. Stupidity never goes out of fashion. I simply took the speaker off, cut the screw dogs off, turned it around and super glued it back on. Then I found a good lithium battery source and velcroed that to the back. Presto. Works like a dream now. I had to pull the plastic over off the back of the stand and grind the ears off the tilt mechanism too, which was pretty easy. It didn't tile enough in either direction for use on a counter standing up, or in the sack.
Now, it works great, but then it should have out of the box. Pass on this one unless you can modify it. Great idea though. Horrendous execution.

Good product, bought new received used
The product seems phenomenal. I was not aware it was for iPad 1 and on top of that my package was used! Clearly a used product.

Designed for IPad 2 only, does not fit IPad 1 perfectly.

IPAD2
This unit does not work well with an IPAD 2... Consider purchasing the unit that is made for the IPAD 2 as it is slightly thinner than the original IPAD.
