PPT interface: Great; Laser: so-so,

This review is from: SMK-Link VP4300 RemotePoint Presenter - Special Edition (Personal Computers)
The interface to PowerPoint is seamless and excellent. I especially like the "6 o'clock" button that blanks the screen (the "b" key on the keyboard--did you know that feature of PowerPoint??). There are billions of ways you can configure it, but it works great out of the box. The buttons it has are quite useful! The laser is rather weak. If you have a white background, the audience cannot see it. The laser is well collimated, so it makes no difference if you are 1 foot from the screen or 30. The flash memory key is a good idea on paper, but our group has only been hampered by it: Windows (by default) sees this device as an empty floppy disk, so if the numbskull that is giving the talk decides to reboot the PC, the reboot freezes until you remove the key/flashmemory/antenna. (It took me way too long to figure THAT one out).

Laser dies quickly,
This review is from: SMK-Link VP4300 RemotePoint Presenter - Special Edition (Personal Computers)
The control of PowerPoint is excellet except the blank screen button is often accidentally pressed during the presentation.
The laser is very weak and dies often in the middle of a presentation-rather frustrating. I liked the flash memory initially, but found it troublesome because it takes extra time for the PC to recongnize it and a folder always pops up!

Mostly pros, but one big con,

I use PowerPoint all the time, and up to now had been using a remote that works through an ifrared eye. That's OK, but I always needed to point the remote at my projector. This unit was my first of this type, and while it worked well in all respects, it had one glaring flaw that caused me to return the unit. Almost every time I depressed the button to use the red light beam pointer, it advanced or reversed my slide. NOT very professional looking! I tried holding it in various ways so as not to activate the advance/reverse mode while using the red pointer, but more often than not, it malfunctioned in this way. I'm looking for a unit with ALL separate buttons now...

Easy to use, responsive. Perfect for presentations. It probably does far more than I know about yet.

I purchased this item about a year and a half ago after watching a presentation where the trainer had an older version of this model. I love this presenter - I am a computer software trainer, and am not just going through PowerPoint presentations, but am actually navigating using this device. Getting used to the thumb-button to navigate the mouse takes a little getting used to, but typically performs better than other remote mouse-s I've used in the past. The greatest feature of this is the additional software that comes with it - you can configure any of the buttons to do a number of different tasks and save those configurations. The two I use most often are the countdown timer (15 minute break, don't be late!) and the zoom feature. Resolution for monitors and projectors being what it is, participants have a hard time seeing tiny icons or code typed on the screen when actually using a program - the zoom feature is AWESOME and works better than zoom features that typically come with projectors.

A very pleasant presentation experience,
This review is from: SMK-Link VP4300 RemotePoint Presenter - Special Edition (Personal Computers)
I bought this device to be used as a simple Powerpoint remote presenter but I very quickly found out it can do a lot more. The flexibility of configurations made it easy for me to have more than one presentation stored in the receiver for different congregations and church services.

We have used this product with other remotes and like all the features. It is very easy to use and packs well in the travel bag. Great product.

This presenter is preferred in my company because it is absolutely dead simple. Forward, back, blank, etc. It also requires no software install so it can be easily moved and plugged in to any computer without IT assistance. We do not use the laser functionality at all, so there are no complaints mirroring those here.

SMK-Link VP4300 RemotePoint Presenter - Special Edition
I have one, it worked beautifully, until my computer started crashing after 30 mins DURING powerpoint presentation, after about more than 1/2 dozen crashes and rebooting computer in midst of a presentation, I decided to not use this particular remote and the computer crashes stopped!

Great Tool,
This review is from: SMK-Link VP4300 RemotePoint Presenter - Special Edition (Personal Computers)
This product is great for PowerPoint presentations. I will never leave home without it and I bring it to all my presentations. The only thing I don't like is the limited amount of space it holds on the thumb drive.
