5.0 out of 5 stars Economical and worthwhile to run you own tests
As to be expected, my veterinarian is a bit skeptical about purchasing a test kit of this nature online. However, like so many things that the medical community wishes to maintain control of, this *seems* by all appearances and research on my part to be the same test my veterinarian charges me just under $60 for (1 test) versus about $12 per test if I purchase it myself...

1.0 out of 5 stars Seller not responding to me.
I sent an e-mail and they have not responded. I still don't know if the Giardia SNAP Test Kit I purchased is authentic or fraudulent. My veterinarian says I should not be able to purchase it on the internet. Only licensed veterinarians should be able to do this. So far, I have not used it as I feel it may be a fake and results would be inaccurate. If the seller would...

As to be expected, my veterinarian is a bit skeptical about purchasing a test kit of this nature online. However, like so many things that the medical community wishes to maintain control of, this *seems* by all appearances and research on my part to be the same test my veterinarian charges me just under $60 for (1 test) versus about $12 per test if I purchase it myself. I've run at least a half dozen tests on my own and backed them up with tests through my veterinarian, and all results have agreed. Not definitive proof, I know, but in my opinion worth the gamble. Also, there has been considerable confusion at my vet's clinic (on my part) as to which test I will or do actually get. I now have them trained to make sure that I am in fact getting the giardia specific test (originally this was not the norm for them, and I received standard fecal float, thinking I was getting giardia ELISA.) Also sometimes the paper work says giardia IFA and sometimes it says giardia SNAP (both are accurate, however I like to know what I'm getting). I believe that I am now confident enough to eliminate the vet back up testing for my cattery's out-going kittens and simply do the home test myself. This way I can afford to do it on each kitten rather than the group sample.

There are a number of products that are meant to be sold only by veterinarians. There are some that sellers can get around, and this test is one of them. Since the test does not require a blood draw, I think that is why it is allowed. It also is not a virus detector, it is just a protozoa detector. I would not hesitate to purchase this for my cattery use and I feel confident it is the same product as you would purchase directly from IDEXX.

I run a rescue and vet bills were killing us. I purchased the tests and the meds on line and have cleaned up the problem for 25% of the cost plus the gas and time getting them to the vet. This is easy, convenient and I yes you can buy the tests on line as long as you buy them from a reputable agency and the come in a cooler. You can also buy metronidazole and pancur-c online. Used together,it takes care of the giardia. Metronidazole can be used without the pancur if the giardia is mild or almost gone.

If the seller would answer the two questions I asked, then I would rate them high. So for now, the SNAP test kit is just setting in my refrigerator, because I am afraid it is not accurate and my two dog's health is at stake. I have hunted for it on the internet and could only find the SNAP parasite Giardia test kit ONE Place - on Amazon. Wonder why?
I wish the seller to answer the following: 1. How is it that they can legally sell the SNAP giardia test kit to the public? 2. How do they 'know for sure' that what they are stocking and selling to the public is not a fake? I just want to be sure, I am not trying to criticize them, but now I am suspicious. lsghearts@live.com. LeAnne Gilbertson 3425 Lombard, Ave. Everett, WA 98201
